Family stories indicate he may have had a sawmill in McCurtain Co., possibly about 1890-1895. He may have been in business with his father-in-law William PRUITT or brothers-in-law during this time. He was married first to Jane WEST who died about 1885 in Paris. He took their two oldest boys and left the area, possibly moving to McCurtain Co. His daughter Rhoda was given to, I believe, a Mr. and Mrs. McCLURE, an aunt and uncle of the child. Mrs. McCLURE was probably a sister of Jane WEST. John Louis McCLESKEY married Sarah Frances PRUITT about 1885-1890, in Paris, TX, or Mena, AR. They had 7-9 children in the 13 years they were married. Descendants of John Louis McCLESKEY and particularly his son John David McCLESKEY probably live in McCurtain Co. today, but I have not yet met any of them. Any assistance will be appreciated.
