Nannie Burtan "Marine" Bettis and James Monroe Bettis is my Great Grandparents, from my Dad's side. They had six children together. The oldest child Perna L. bettis died a few weeks old, and is buried in Kentucky. Later on Mamie P. "Bettis" Mabry was born. Three years later Sarah Mavis "Bettis" Childress(my Grannie). Then Elbert Lynn Bettis was born. After that the Bettis families left Kentucky, some settled in Texas, Okla., etc. Jimmie R. Bettis was born after they left Kentucky and so was Richard Watt Bettis. I was told Richard was born at Rufe, Okla., and Jimmie Rufus Bettis was born Texas. Jimmie's birth, I am not for sure. I will have to look it up, to be exact. Elbert Lynn died around the age of 11 years old, and is buried beside his parents and a cousin from his Dad's side of the family, in the Valliant, Okla. cemetary. I would love to hear, from anyone who knows about my family history. I use to set and list! en to my Grannie talk about her people and how life was back then. Nannie Burtan "Marine" Bettis's mother Sarah Frances "Collie" Marine died at the age of 101 years old. Did you know that? Richard Jasper Marine was a school teacher.
