Lassiter was my great great grandfather. His wife was E.J. Lassiter. They are listed in the census (I don't recall which one right now) as living in Machire. On a map from the early 1900s on the Haskell Co. website, it shows Machire as being between Stigler and Whitefield. It doesn't have the county specified, but has several counties listed on the edges of the map, including McCurtain Co. I'd really like to know more about this place. William A. was shown to have been born in North Carolina. There were quite a few children, including my great grandfather, Lovic Peirce Lassiter and "Nanny" Kate Lassiter, who married a Carolan and had a large family. William and his family moved to Machire from Boonsville, AR, Logan County around the turn of the century. I do have land records showing Williams properties in Logan County. I have searched bureau of land manage. records for indian territory and haskell county, but have had absolutely no luck.
