Davis James was 28 years old in 1925. Grandmother either said he died at the age of 28 or in 1928, my dad does not remember which. So he would have been young. We think he died in 1925, since my dad does not remember him. My dad would have been 3 years old. Thanks Mary

On your new search type in OKGenWeb, go into it and then on the top lefthand side hit COUNTIES; Then scroll down til you see COUNTY LIST and hit it. Scroll down through the counties til you see McCurtain and hit it. Scroll down the McCurtain site to McCurtain Archieves and hit it. Then find the cemeteries and hit it. Lots of cemeteries listed. If you can not find this site, let me know and I will try to lead you another way. . Lots of luck.
I have a story from the Haskell County Indian Territory to 1988 book that mentions the first Sappington family that came to Haskell County was Wesley Winfield Sappington and his wife Zilla. I also have Sappington's in my Lane family line but couple cousins away from myself. The article is F586 pages 501-587 (very long articles). Miles Welcome Sappington, Charley, Bane and Mary. Who is the Sappington Family that your grandad was seeing? There is another aritcle that mentions Ethel Gifford married Irvin Reid. Doesn't say anymore about her. Albert Young was my gg-gf. I'm not sure if he actually lived in McCurtain County, but some of his kids did. He was at least there in 1913 for a picture of his family to be taken. He was married twice. My g-gm Martha was from his first marriage. Among his children were Ellie, Jesse, Archie, Lena, Lawrence, Alice & Ethel. His 2nd wife was Martha Minerva. I don't know the name of his first wife. Ellie and Martha are children I know from his first wife. Do any of these look familiar. This week I found a hand written certificate appointing my husband's grandfather deputy sheriff for McCurtain County. "This is to certify that I have this the 20th day of November, 1923, appointed Quinton Young duputy sheriff in and for McCurtain County Okla. to act in such capacity until futher ordered by me to which I set my official hand this the 20th day of March A.D. 1923." JR Jones Sheriff of McCurtain Co. Okla. The dates entered above are as written. It is on official McCurtain County, Oklahoma letterhead listing J. R. Jones, Sheriff and C. R. Holman, Under Sheriff. We do not know how long Mr. Young served. Quinton's full name was Charles Quinton Young.
