    3. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~manningmassey/foresthill.htm I have just spent about an hour or so updating my Family Tree Maker with persons in it who are buried in Forest Hill Cemetery. I had no idea this was online and was very glad to get it. I did notice some family names that were misspelled. Who could I ask to correct those? Anyway, THANKS to the person/persons who put this information online. This is my family cemetery. Sharon Fields McKeever of Valliant, OK

    1. Re: Delayed Birth Certificates
    2. My grandmother was born in 1910 and did not obtain a "delayed" birth certificate until some time in the 1930's. In order to obtain her birth certificate she had to provide 2 forms of identification. Her identification was one of her son's birth certificates and the family bible, both documents listed her age. Her name and birth date wasn't placed in the family bible until well after her birth, and she was never sure whether she was born in 1910 or 1911 (according to census records found later, she was definitely born in 1910). So, the dates of birth may not always be accurate.

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/SaB.2ACI/1616.2.1.1 Message Board Post: Oklahoma law did not require recording of birth & death records until Oct 1908 when a statewide registration of births and deaths was established BUT generally not complied with until 1930's (when babies started being born in hospitals). Any person born before Oct 1908 in Oklahoma would not have birth certificate available, unless the person requested a “delayed” certificate later. Although some county records predate 1908, a few as early as 1891, most did not start until after statehood in 1907. The early records, which are quite incomplete, are housed at county courthouses. County Birth and Death Records In a later project, OKGenWeb will attempt to gather a list of county-level records. For now, you will need to visit the county of interest to ascertain what information, if any, is available

Recently I went to McCurtain Co. and was able to find some info. Gibby's real name is Charlie, his father was William A. Durant and his mother was Sarah LeFlore. His grandparents were Allingon "Elick" Durant and Mary Garvin d/o Isaac Garvin they lived in Red River 1855. I have the marriage info when Gibby married Nora Cravens, looking for Nora info, but no luck there. I did find out that they had a son born in 1910 named Luther Calvin Durant. My grandfather in law applied and was given guardianship in 1913, Nora died between Nov. 16, 1918 and Jan 9, 1919, and I can not find Luther anywhere past the paperwork of 1913. Still do not know when Gibby was killed. Just know between 1909 and 1913. Charlie is listed in 1910 McCurtain Census. Does that help any? Bette Sears

Young (age 68 - TN) and wife Ella (57), but as coincidence would have it ... they are living in the household of Y.A. Phillips (28), and his wife Torn (26) and daughter Austin. It shows them (the Youngs) as being "boarders" with the Phillips family ... but maybe that was just a way of listing them? No family relationship was annotated on the census form.
