She married Charles Quinton Young. Her son's Bible lists her siblings as Lena, Adela, Dewey and possibly Berry (unclear). She and Charles lived in Haworth. Their children were Alene, Lena, Calvin and Leroy. Charles had two children by his first wife, Melvin and Edna. I think Madden's parents may have been Mary Jane Wynn and Thomas Jefferson Provence, but have no documentation. I would appreciate any help. This is my last dead end on my husband's family tree.

It was the first census that listed Indians and whites together, as by this time, whites made up more than 90 percent of the population schedule. The Indian schedule was at the end of each enumeration district. If you ancestors appeared on the 1900, they fulfilled the residency requirement for the Dawes Final Roll. http://www.choctaw-web.com/genealogy_8.htm <A HREF="http://www.choctaw-web.com/genealogy_8.htm">Click here: GENEALOGY 8 </A> Other Recent Uploads: Words of Wisdom by Shawnee chief Tecumseh you will want to bookmark and share with others. http://www.choctaw-web.com/words.htm <A HREF="http://www.choctaw-web.com/words.htm">Click here: WORDS </A> New Norma Howard Artwork The Misississippi Choctaw artist sketched Pickin Cotton, Raccoon Dance, Dinner on the Ground and First Day at School. http://www.choctaw-web.com/norma_howard.htm VANISHING RACE Written about the Choctaw tribe by Guy Augustus Crossett and published earlier in Oklahoma Chronicles. http://www.choctaw-web.com/vanishing_race.htm <A HREF="http://www.choctaw-web.com/vanishing_race.htm">Click here: VANISHING RACE </A> CHOCTAW MAP A useful map shows the Choctaw Nation counties in 1885 layered over modern counties. http://www.choctaw-web.com/new_page_2.htm <A HREF="http://www.choctaw-web.com/new_page_2.htm">Click here: CHOCTAW MAP </A> ************ Also: Well-Known Choctaws, including Moshulatubbe, Hudson, Pitchlynn and Krebs. http://www.choctaw-web.com/well-known.htm <A HREF="http://www.choctaw-web.com/well-known.htm">Click here: WELL-KNOWN </A> ****** a SITE MAP ito enhance navigation to various pages. http://www.choctaw-web.com/site_map.htm <A HREF="http://www.choctaw-web.com/site_map.htm">Click here: SITE MAP </A> ****** 1885 Choctaw Nation Census for counties of ATOKA , BLUE , BOKTOLO, CEDAR, EAGLE, JACKS FORK, TOWSON , WADE, KIAMITIA, San Bois, SUGAR LOAF and SKULLYVILLE plus 1929 Restricted Census. http://www.choctaw-web.com/census.htm <A HREF="http://www.choctaw-web.com/census.htm">Click here: CENSUS </A> Allied families include: ADAMS, ANDERSON, BOHANNON ,DANENHOUR, FLETCHER, FOLSOM, FREENY, GARDNER, HAMPTON, HEWITT, JONES, MACKEY, MURPHEY, ROBINSON, and TOAZ. http://www.choctaw-web.com/allies.htm <A HREF="http://www.choctaw-web.com/allies.htm">Click here: ALLIES </A> RESOURCES: O'Bierne's Leaders, Indians and Intruders, favorite links, artist http://www.choctaw-web.com/come_back.htm <A HREF="http://www.choctaw-web.com/come_back.htm">Click here: RESOURCES </A> ************ Because of my census transcription and website work, right now I am unable to answer all my e-mail personally but please visit my website to continue your search for ancestors. Posted on: McCurtain County, Ok Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ok/McCurtain/1188 Surname: carnes, Weaver ------------------------- My great great grandparents were Jim and Nettie Carnes (they were full blood Choctaw Indian). I know very little about the Carnes, except one of their children was my great grand mother, her name was Emily and she married Austin Weaver. I think they must have all lived in McCurtain County or what was Blue County. My great grandfather, Austin died in l899 and was not enrolled for land allotments, but my great grandmother was. She lived and died in what is now Hughes County, this was where their land allotments were. One of her daughters was my grandmother, her name was Martha Weaver. I wonder if they are, perhaps, part of the Carnes family you are searching for?? I have searched for a long time, and this is the first Carnes I have hit on, I have hit on many Weavers, but not Indian weavers!!! Thanks, Sally Shinabery
Posted on: McCurtain County, Ok Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ok/McCurtain/1186 Surname: Wilcher ------------------------- Hello, Peggy: A dentist did 3 root canals in the same tooth for me yesterday. Well, back to the folks and forefathers of those who came into McCurtain Co. Okla. By the way, you were not sure but you said something about Ponotoc. Ponotoc was and is in Ponotoc County Miss. It was created in 1836 out of Indian Land. In 1870, Union county Miss. was formed out of a little bit of Ponotoc Co. and a little bit of Tippah Co. You know I said that the Wilcher's probably did not settle in Tennessee. Wrong. Oh,yes, they are found in the Franklin County Tenn. Census of 1830 p. 123. John D. Wilcher was in Casey Co. Kentucky, 1820, according to the Census on p. 212. The tally marks that are made for the ages of children and adults indicate that John D.'s father was another John (don't know the middle name) Wilcher. Sometimes this name is spelled by the census taker as Welsher. John D. Wilcher is 13 years old in 1820, Casey Co. Kentucky. His name is not actually given because only the head of the household's name is given. After Franklin County Tenn. they go to Marshall County Alabama. Did you receive my e-mail to your personal address?

Posted on: McCurtain County, Ok Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ok/McCurtain/1177 Surname: Axton, Davies, Parker, Butler, Rile, Wallis, Lynn, Binger, Beason, Deramus ------------------------- Axton, Hoyt - was never from Broken Bow, although his father was the high school football coach for many years after Hoyt was grown. When questioned about it, Hoyt usually called Ada home. Axton, Mae (Boren) - was almost as well known in Nashville as Hoyt and actually lived in Broken Bow for several years. She was Hoyt's mother. Her biggest claim to fame was a writing credit on Heartbreak Hotel, a #1 hit for Elvis Presley in the 1950's. Davies, Gail - was born in Broken Bow and had relative success as a country music singer/songwriter. I believe that she is related to the Whittens. Parker, Frank - Professional athlete with the Cleveland Browns. You can probably find him at Cedar Creek Golf Course. Butler, James - 1979/1980 NCAA National Champion, 200 meters. 1980 Olympic Qualifier, 200 meters. His mother still lives in Broken Bow. Rile, Curt - Successful career as a country musician in Nashville. He is related to the Pannells. I may not have spelled his name correctly. (Ryle, Kurt??) He played guitar in Vern Gosdin's band in the 1980's, I think. Wallis, James - Successful career as a comedian. I think one of his websites is www.baldguy.com. He is a member of the Broken Bow group at www.egroups.com. Lynn, Judy - She had success as a country music singer in Nashville. Sharon Bice is her cousin, I believe. Binger, Roy - Professional baseball player in the 1930's or 40's. I think his nickname was "Egghead". Beason, Lucille - Playboy Playmate in the 1960's. I believe that she appeared in the magazine as "Lisa Baker". Deramus, Judy - Successful country gospel singing career. She lives in Broken Bow. Richard, Ira - Played for the Arena Football League's San Jose Sharks a few years ago. Kacharal, These are the ones that I remember off the top of my head. I wrote an article about this topic several years ago. There were a few others, but I can't recall them at the moment. I hope that you will find some of this information useful. Good Luck, Skip Copeland
