    1. [OKMCCURT] GOLDEN F MITCHEL AL KY BORN 1822
    2. L. Hutson
    3. Posted on: McCurtain County, Ok Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ok/McCurtain/1206 Surname: Mitchel ------------------------- Hello McCurtain co OK.: I am searching for info. on a family I believe came to OK. in mid 1800s. The family of Golden F. MItchel. He was a Creek indian. Possibly he was of a Cherokee father, originally from TX. Golden was born in 1822 in AL.. It said in family stories that his dad was from TX. originally. And his mom was a Creek in north east AL. I do not know the names of his parents or siblings. This is what I am looking to find. Golden lived in what is now Marshall co AL on a reservation (combo of 2) named Merrill/Robinson R. In abt 1839 and 1840 he moved to KY. To a county on the TN. river located in south western part of KY.. There he married a white lady. That is where my family records start. This is all the info. I have on the Mitchels. I was hoping, at last resort, to possibly find someone with Mitchel ancestors. When Golden left AL. he didnt bring other family with him. So I assume he may have had siblings. I assume his parents died. I am told that when you were given lands in AL then you lived on it. But when you died the land went back to the government.. They may have been sent to OK. during the forced moves. The surname has been spelled Mitchel/Mitchell/Mitchyl. Golden married a S. Weatherspoon in KY. And had my gggrandmom Malinda Alice Mitchel. I am trying to find info. on the family. Pictures definitely indicate as do family stories they were indeed native american. But finding Goldens people seem to be impossible. Golden lived on that above mentioned reservation with the following other family:surnames: Waters Crow Montgomery Golden Mitchel * Merrill Ferrill Pannell if anyone has any Mitchel ancestors. Please contact me. I have hit all deadends trying to trace this family Thanks Lisa Link: My genealogy page-Mitchel,Stubblefield, Hutson, McAdoo URL: <http://hctennessee.accessgenealogy.com>

    3. Hello, Nana. You want to look at the 1900 Indian Territory census. Look in Choctaw Nation. There are 3 or 4 rolls of microfilm and I'm afraid I don't have the enumeration district close at hand for you. If you go the OK GenWeb site, you can look at the IT map and it shows you what nations were where. You can also check the Choctaw Nation web site that was posted a few days agao and it shows what areas are the counties now. I'll be happy to check the soundex next time in the Tulsa library, but that will be a while as my two year old son is in the hospital for the second time in two weeks, so mother will be home awhile later - and in gegealogy withdrawal! Happy time travels. -----Original Message----- From: Nan <[email protected]> To: [email protected] <[email protected]> Date: Friday, December 08, 2000 11:19 PM Subject: [OKMCCURT] 1900 census records >Posted on: McCurtain County, Ok Query Forum >Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ok/McCurtain/1200 > >Surname: >------------------------- > >Help! I met Floyd Mack Butler. He was a sweet old man, and I was very sorry to hear of his passing. His father was Colo Rado "Collie" Butler, b. 3-13-1880, Barry Co., MO, and Floy'd mother was Lottie Brewer, b. 3-31-1890 Louisville, KY. Collie's father was Norman Barnard Butler, born 6-4-1852 in Cass Co., MI or TN, and Collie's mother was Alminey (Gardner) Mahan. (Alminey had two daughters, Julie and Sarah Mahan, prior to her marriage to Norman.) Collie's brother was Ollie. Norman's parents were Benjamin B. Butler, b. abt 1819 OH, & Emily (Sarah Emily Jane?) Morlan, b. abt 1825 OH. They both died in the spring of 1862 of smallpox, leaving all of their children orphaned. If you want more information, please let me know. Otherwise, I will send you an 'invitation' to the Butler family website.

Posted on: McCurtain County, Ok Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ok/McCurtain/1193 Surname: BUTLER, MORLAN, MAHAN, GARDNER ------------------------- Yes, I have lots of info on the Butler family. The family has been 'reconstructed' during the past 4-5 years, and we have found family all over the country. This is a quick synopsis of Norman Barnard Butler's family: Norman Barnard Butler, born 6-4-1852 either in Cass Co., MI or TN (different records) He and his siblings were orphaned by the spring of 1862 when their parents died about a month apart of smallpox. Norman's parents were Benjamin B. Butler, b. about 1819 OH, d. abt March 1861, married on 9-3-1845 at LaGrange, Cass Co., MI, to Emily (Susan Emily Jane?) Morlan, b. abt 1825 OH, d. abt April 1861. We don't know who Benjamin's parents were, but Emily's father was William Morlan/Moreland, Jr., b. 9-15-1805 KY or VA. Emily had one full-blood brother, Jobe William Morlan, plus several half-brothers/sisters. Benjamin & Emily had several children: 1. Francis Marion "Frank" Butler a/k/a Norman Barnard Butler, b. 11-24-1845 Cass Co., MI, d. 5-19-1918 Springfield, OR. [This was my gr-gr-grandfather. He was a bigamist.] 2. William Alvin Butler, b. 10-22-1847 Cass Co., MI, d. 12-3-1919, Stockton, CA. 3. Fernando Butler, b. abt 1849/50, d. before 1860. 4. Norman Barnard Butler, d. abt 1929, Bethel, OK. 5. Benjamin Jobe Butler, b. 7-6-1855, Christian Co., MO, d. 2-24-1918 Stone Co., MO 6. Nelson Garrett Butler, b. 10-24-1857, Christian Co., MO, d. 12-18-1941, Republic, Greene Co., MO. 7. Mary Isabella Butler, b. March 4 in 1859-1862, d. 2-10-1936 Greene Co., MO, bur. at Republic, MO. 8. Baby Girl Butler, b. abt 1861/62, d. abt April 1862 Christian Co., MO of smallpox. Benjamin B., Emily & their baby girl were buried in the slave area of the Walker-Gardner Cemetery in Parch Corn Hollow just outside of Ozark, Christian Co., MO. The cemetery is on private property. Later today, I will take your e-mail address and 'invite' you into the Butler family website. There's not much activity in the site right now. It's about a year or so old, plus this is the busy time of season for everyone. Nevertheless, you might want to look at the photos. Also, I know a few of your children's relatives -- those descendants of Norman. I'll get you some addresses, if you like. Margaret Butler Tulsa, OK
