Hi, I am not surprised to hear there were two Church of Christ preachers in the family. I am certain that your Reese line hooks in with the Reeses, Jones, Womacks, Crawfords, Watsons, Floyds, Campbells, Bacon, etc (there are about 14 surnames) who settled near Corinth Arkansas in the 1850's. Many lived in and around Center Point. They were known by some as Campbellites and were "sect" of the Church of Christ. Almost all these above surnames you will find associated with the Church of Christ in Howard and Pike Co. AR. I looked for your Thomas Jefferson Reese in my database but could not find him. If you know Thomas Jefferson's father's name I might be able to give you more info. email me at [email protected] if you would like a copy of the "Corinth" database I have put together (so far only those related to my Watson and Westbrook line) Tammy Judy Huber wrote: > Posted on: McCurtain County, Ok Query Forum > Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ok/McCurtain/1236 > > Surname: Reese > ------------------------- > > Hi Fred: > > My Mom is visiting me from CA. and is 83 yrs. old. Posted on: McCurtain County, Ok Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ok/McCurtain/1236 Surname: Reese ------------------------- Hi Fred: My Mom is visiting me from CA. and is 83 yrs. old. She was born in Tom, OK. and knew Wayne and Zenobia Reese. She does not remember them having any children. Wayne built the first gin in Tom, OK. and lived there for a number of years. He then moved to Idabel. Wayne also had a brother Carl Reese that lived in Tom and he ran a grocery store in Tom. Carl came to Tom from Foreman, AR. Mom thought they had two more brothers living in OK. that were both Church of Christ ministers and they used to come often to Tom and preach there at their Church of Christ when she was a kid growing up. Carl had two daughters by his first wife, Mattie and Effie Mae and then he married Mrs. Malone from Foreman, AR. and she had two sons, lester and John Clark Malone. Carl and Mrs. Malone had two sons and a daughter and the oldest son's names was James Thomas and daughter Bertha Jane and Carl was another son. Carl probably died in the early 1960's there in Tom and Wayne and Zenobia were living in Idabel then and must have passed away in the later 60's or early 1970's. James Thomas Reese was killed in the army and Bertha Jane lived in Broken Bow area but doesn't know about Carl Jr. Lester and John Clark Malone are both deceased. John Clark was living in Idabel, OK area. Mattie Reese married a man by name of Dunn and lived in TN. and came back to Tom and bought on Baker farm and then went back to TN. Hope some of this helps! Happy hunting.

Posted on: McCurtain County, Ok Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ok/McCurtain/1221 Surname: Sehon ------------------------- Hello Wayne: My Mom was born in Tom, OK. her name is Pearl Baker Miller. Your mother is about the same age as my Aunt Mae Baker Small. Mom is here visiting me. She lives in CA. and is 83 yrs. old. She doesn't remember Grace, but she did say that probably Dr. Olliver delivered your Mom and he was not real good at recording births, We had to get a delayed birth certificate for her. He delivered all her sisters as well and none of them had birth records, except for maybe one. I assume you have tried to get a copy through the state of OK? Mom said that she remembers some Wilmoths that lived in Idabel, any relation to you? Mom also said that her Aunt Sally Baker (married to Mom's Dad's brother Tom Baker) later married two Sehon's - they were cousins, her third husband was Gordon Sehon and they had Ben, a girl and Henry Sehon - any relations??? Nice to visit with you. Sorry can't help any more than that. Happy Hunting. Judy - Phoenix, AZ.
