C. Cravens is. My husbands Gmother was Nora Cravens, his uncles were Floyd, Boyd (Twins) and Cal. I have the Early McCurtain County Obits books, 1904-1919 and 1920-1924. I found him in the 1904 book and I need to find out if W. C. is their father. I was told that their father was also a Cal and was wondering if the C may stand for Cal. W.C. lived on a farm outside of Garvin which is where they are from. Nora would have had a different mother, but the boys mother name was Dalia. The obit said he had several small children. Twins were 3 and Cal would have been a newborn if he was even born yet as he died same year Cal was born. Thank You Bette

I have a Robert W. Reed, born 1858 in Missouri. He reported to the 1880 census that his parents were both born in Tennessee. At the time of the 1880 census he and wife Lydia Robinson (appears as Lidda on the census) were living in Washington CO, Arkansas with an infant son named William Edward Reed. They moved to the OK/TX area some time after the census. What information do you have on Samuel Reed? Anything on parents or siblings? Thanks, Marcia [email protected]
Hi Marsha, Thanks for writing. I don't believe that we are talking about the same Robert Reed. But we need to compare notes, as we could be related. The Robert Reed that I am looking for was the son of Samuel M. and Sarah Mily (Reed) Ingram Reed. The Samuel M. Reed family was in Grayson County, Texas, in 1880. Robert was listed in the 1880 census as Robert B. Reed, 6 years old, born in Texas. I just recently learned that this Robert Reed is probably buried in the Valliant Cemetery, in McCurtain County, and I'm still hopeful that I can find a good samaritan who will check the gravestone listings for Valliant Cemetery to confirm when Robert Reed was born, and when he died. Now, the reason why I think we need to compare notes. Samuel M. Reed was the son of William D. Reed, who settled in Washington County, Arkansas, about 1830. We believe, and are currently trying to prove, that Samuel's second wife, Sarah Mily (Reed) Ingram Reed, was the daughter of John L. and Elizabeth Reed, who are listed in Washington County, Arkansas, (next to the Ralph Reed family) in 1850. So both Samuel M. Reed and his wife were both from Washington County, Arkansas! Sarah Mily Reed was first married, in Washington County, in 1857, to a Joseph Albert Ingram. They went to Missouri, where we believe that Joseph died. Sarah returned to Washington County, and married Samuel M. Reed in 1865. They moved to Missouri within a few years, then stopped in Kansas, and were probably in Grayson County, Texas, by 1875. We have some reason to suspect a relationship between the families of Sarah Mily Reed and her husband, Samuel M. Reed, but have no proof to this point. I'm in contact with a group of genealogists who are working on these two families, as well as other Reed families in Washington County. If you'll fill me in on what you know about your Robert W. Reed family, including anything you know about his parents, and brothers or sisters, I'll see if we can tie our families together, or find you some additional information from within my group of contacts. May I ask if you had Reeds in McCurtain County? If so, I'd love to know more about them. I won't be surprised to find a relationship between our Reed families. There appear to have been a lot of cousins of the Arkansas Reeds who moved to Oklahoma and Texas in the latter half of the 19th century. By the way, some of the Reeds in my Samuel M. Reed family ended up in Parker County, Texas; in Lamar County, Texas; in Grayson County, Texas; and, especially, in Pontotoc County, Oklahoma. I look forward to hearing from you. Hi, I'm researching a Samuel M. Reed family. One of Samuel M. Reed's sons was a Robert Reed. I recently learned that Robert Reed was buried in the Valliant Cemetery. Does anyone on the list have easy access to a listing of the gravestones in the Valliant Cemetery that they could check for me to see if there is a stone for Robert Reed? I think that Robert Reed was born around 1874, but don't have any good idea about when he died. I'd really appreciate any asistance. Thank you, Mike Landwehr West Des Moines, Iowa
