Jim, I found very little. There was no obit and the newspapers on microfilm don't go back that far. Gloss Mountain Country, Major Co. History Book: Mr. Charles Bullard, Mr. Dewater, & Mr. Gard all picked areas of their land for a cemetery. It was decided that whoever died first, that's whose land the cemetery would be on. Mr. Dewater died first. The cemetery is the Cheyenne Valley Cemetery and his stone reads: E. Hamilton DeWater 6-29-1848 - 2-17-1895 The date indicated he is the first burial in the cemetery and he is the only DeWater. Good Luck. Pat Weaver
