I thought I remembered seeing the name Leslie, OK. It was not in the 1907-1908 Oklahoma Business Directory for the old Woods Co. but it still rang a bell in my head! I checked the index for Gloss Mountain Country, Major Co. History and found the name Leslie in the general index (which is mainly names) - pages 176 (not 177) and 184. Both stories mention "the only store was a place called Leslie 3 miles North and 1/2 miles East of Fairview..." I looked the location up in the 1906 Standard Atlas of Woods Co, OK and there was a school in this location - no mention of a town or anything named Leslie - it was on land then owned by John Kemp. The Gloss Mountain Country book showed the Leslie School as District #158 and there is a picture of the school on page 406 - no names or dates but it was an early school - probably early 1900s. I don't know why the name stuck with me - as many times as I've been through the school pictures in the book, it must have been embedded in my subconscious!!! Next question - who are you looking for?
