    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Leslie, OK Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/JaB.2ACI/390.3 Message Board Post: I posted this message yesterday but I must not be doing something right - I also noticed the messages I posted for others are not there so I'll have to backtrack & find out who I've missed. Now to Leslie, OK - I thought I remembered seeing the name Leslie, OK. It was not in the 1907-1908 Oklahoma Business Directory for the old Woods, Co, but it still rang a bell in my head! I checked the index for Gloss Mountain Country, Major Co. History and found the name Leslie in the General Index (which is mainly names) - page 176 (not 177 as listed) and 184. Both stories mention "the only store was a place called Leslie 3 miles North and 1/2 miles East of Fairview..." from page 184. I looked the location up in the 1906 Standard Atlas of Woods Co, OK and there was a school in this location - no mention of a town or anything named Leslie - it was on land then owned by John Kemp. The Gloss Mountain Country book, showed the Leslie School (the school on this land) as District #158 and there is a picture of the school on page 406 - no names or date but it was an early school - probably early 1900s. Maybe this is the Leslie you are looking for. I don't know why the name stuck with me - as many times as I've been through the school pictures in the book, it must have been embedded in subconscious!!! Next question - who are you looking for?
