My grandfather was John Henry Armstrong Died Jan.8, 1946. His obit states that at the opening of the Cherokee Strip he made the ran and homesteaded a farm near Blackwell. After his first wife passed away he married my grandmother Fonda Young and moved to Fairview, this was about 1903. He bought a business there. I believe a rooming house. In the early 40'2 he was was a part time deputy sheriff and constable. His children were Claude Henry and William Irvin from his first marriage. Second marriage children were Myrtle (my mother) and John. His sisters Sarah Ellis of yale, Ok. and Olive Dewhirst of Kansas. His other sister was Mary Lankard of Fairview. Can any we tell me where to go to find out about the run and land he owned in Blackwell and Fairview. I have checked the sites for the runs and can't seem to find any information. Also about his days as deputy sheriff. If anyone can help will truly appreciate it. Will wait to hear. Thanks for your time. Jackie -- mailto:jlamorie@earthlink.net
