OBITUARIES: Fairview Republican, Aug. 25, 1916 George Cousins Died, at his home northwest of Fairview, Friday afternoon, August 18th, George Cousins, at the age of 75 years, 5 months and 3 days. Mr. Cousins was born at Dorsetshire, England, March 14, 1843 and came to this country in 1870. He was married to his wife, who survives him, in 1875 and to this union, only one child was born, a son, W.F. Cousins who was with him throughout his last illness. Cancer was the final cause of his death, having had an operation performed many years ago but it came back and caused him untold agony until his death. He came to this country shortly after the opening of this country and lived continuously on his claim for 22 years. He always took an active interest in the upbuilding of the country and was well liked by all his neighbors, a good citizen and will be missed from this community. The body was laid to rest in the cemetery west of Orienta, at peace to the world and relieved from his sufferings. The sympathy of the entire community goes out to the bereaved relatives. Fairview Republican, Mar. 14, 1929 A Loved One Gone "Ere Sin could blight or sorrow fade, Death came with friendly care. The opening bud to heaven conveyed, And bade it blossom there." On March 5th, 1929, the dark angel of death visited the home of Mr. and Mrs. William L. Cousins and took from their family circle their beloved baby daughter, Betty Jean, aged 2 months and 5 days. Everything that willing hands and kind hearts could do to save the life of the loved one was of no avail. There was more than the usual interest felt over this little soul by the whole community as she was one of the first twins born in Cleo Springs. Funeral services were conducted at the M.E. church by Rev. Peebles and the little form was laid to rest by the side of her grand-father, George Cousins in the Orienta cemetery. This good family has the sympathy of all their host of friends in their sad bereavement. "A loving one from us has gone A voice in love is stilled, A place is vacant in our hearts, Which never can be filled." Card of Thanks We desire to thank the many friends and neighbors for sympathy and help in our recent bereavement and burial of our daughter, and sister, Betty Jean. Mr. and Mrs. W.F.
