In 1894 he married Florence Seibel and to their union nine children were born, five sons and four daughters. Shortly after their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Schale came to Oklahoma and settled in what is now Major county. In the seventeen years that he lived here he won a place of high regard in the hearts of his neighbors and his death is a distinct loss to the community. He was married to Miss Florence Seibel at Hillsboro, September 2, 1894, and immediately after the wedding came to Oklahoma and took a claim 6 miles northwest of Fairview where they lived 16 years, then moved to their present home one mile east of Fairview. He leaves a wife, 9 children, 5 sons and 4 daughters, his step-mother, 2 half brothers, 5 sisters and a great number of friends to mourn his early and sad death. Funeral services at the South Mennonite Brethren church at 2 o'clock, Friday, May 28, and burial soon after the services at the cemetery near the church. The community was greatly shocked when the word was sent out early Tuesday morning that Jacob Schale had died at his home one mile east of town. He had been in town just the evening before and seemed to be in the best of health, jolly and in the best of spirits. It was heart failure. Jacob Schale was born February 23, 1870, in South Russia. His parents came to the United States, June 20, 1880, and settled near Hillsboro, Kansas. There he was married to Florence Seibel, September 2nd, 1894. Right after the wedding they came to Oklahoma, settling on a homestead, six miles northwest of Fairview which he had secured in the opening of the Strip. After living there for 16 years, he sold the old homestead and bought the present home where he died on May 25th, at the age of 44 years, 3 months and 2 days. He leaves a wife and nine children, consisting of five sons and four daughters, besides five sisters, his stepmother and two half brothers with a great host of friends to mourn his untimely death. Mr. Schale has always been an active worker in the church of his belief, besides being identified with anything which went to make this country a better place to live, always helped in public improvements and at his death was a member of the township board of Fairview township. He was regarded as a model citizen and his presence will be missed in public life. The funeral services will be conducted at the South Mennonite church, Friday afternoon by Rev. M.M. Just after which the body will be laid to rest in that cemetery. Fairview Republican, Jan. 24, 1957 Services for Albert J. Schale, 61, were held at the Fairview Mennonite Brethren church at 2:30 p.m. Sunday with Rev. Loyal Funk officiating. Burial, under the direction of the Speece Funeral home, was in the South Mennonite Brethren cemetery. Schale died Thursday at an Enid hospital. He had suffered a heart attack several years ago, but had remained active, in spite of intermittent attacks. His condition worsened about three months ago and he was taken to the hospital when it became critical about two weeks ago. Born at Hillsboro, Kansas, he moved here with his parents at the opening of the Cherokee Strip. The family homesteaded northwest of Fairview and he was still farming in this area at the time of his death. He also had earned quite a reputation as an auctioneer and much of his time was spent in this pursuit. A member of the Mennonite Brethren church, he played an active part in the life of the church, singing in the male chorus, and until his illness three months ago, taught a Sunday school class. During the past few years he had directed a regular radio broadcast from an Enid station. The program, sponsored by him, featured the "Melody" quartet. He is survived by his wife Ruby of the home, a son, Martin, Clovis, N.M.; two daughters, Mrs. Marjorie Cline, Whittier, Calif., and Mrs. Berdine Sharp, Lubbock, Texas; four sisters, Mrs. Emil Faul and Mrs. Tony Seibel, Harvey, N. Dakota, Mrs. Fred Hein, Fairview, and Mrs. Sam Fox, Okeene; three brothers, Joe Schale, Bismark, N. Dakota, Raymond Schale, Harvey, N. Dakota, and Jack Schale, Enid; also a halp-brother, Dr. Otto Faul, Harvey, and seven grandchildren. Sidenote: My husband's great-grandmother, Rebecca Weaver, bought her house from Albert J. Schale in 1930. I believe (although I haven't looked it up) that he was executor to an estate that contained the house. The house has been in the family ever since and now we are the proud occupants.
