History - available from The Major Co. Historical Society, PO Box 555, Fairview, OK 73737 for $35 plus postage: Gleanings from story: Crawford, Edward Edward Crawford homesteaded 14 miles southwest of Fairview - SE4 Section 17, township 20N, range 14W. Ed & brother-in-law John Shelton came from Kansas in a covered wagon. Land was acquired Dec. 11, 1894. Ed - b. Boone Co, KS 1868. Clara Shelton b. 1875 Harris Co, MO. m. Nov. 17, 1892, Nickerson, KS. Children: Orville b. 1893 Stafford Co, KS, LeRoy 1897, Stafford Co, KS, Earl (father of lady writing story) b. 1899 on homestead, Edna 1907, Eldon 1906, Eileen 1911.
