Dear List Members, I am going to leave in the morning, November 15th, for 5 days. I will be attending a Manager's Retreat for my company and will be home this coming Sunday evening. I have way to many lists to find List sitters for them, so I need to ask a favor from each of you. If anything happens on your list which is out of line and against our list rules, not matter what, PLEASE let it pass and just delete it. Know that each evening I will be checking on things from my hotel room and will take care of any problem that happened during the day. I know sometimes it is hard to not say something, but it would help me a great deal if you would just let the offense pass. One more item, if you are needing me to help you unsubscribe, be understanding if I don't respond as quickly as I try to. I will only be near the computer in the evenings in my hotel room. Sending the message more than once to the entire list will not help. I appreciate each of you and all that you do to help my life as your List Mom to run as smoothly as it does. See you on Sunday. Dear List Members, We are adding a section on Ghosts Towns to the OK-Cemetery Volunteer and Cemetery Inventory website http://www.rootsweb.com/~okcemete/okcem.htm If you know of a Ghost Town, have picture and or directions to one and or descriptions of one, links giving information or know of a graveyard in or near a ghost town of Oklahoma, I would appreciate it if you would share it with us. If you have not had a chance to visit the OK-Cemeteries Volunteer and Cemetery Inventory site, you should. The Web Mistress is adding cemeteries that have been shared with us along with many pictures of tombstones as fast as she can. I would suggest that you come back often, the amount of information waiting to be put on the site is more than equal to what is on it already there. Kathleen Burnett List Mom
Posted on: Major County, Ok Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ok/Major/334 Surname: Lozier, Mason, Wysong, Eubank ------------------------- Linda, You asked about Eliza Ellen Lozier. I did not think that I knew anything about her, but I checked my book, "Mason-White Family History", and found another connection between the Loziers and the Masons. One of my grandmother's brothers was Lester E. Mason (son of Jacob H. Mason). He married Susie Ellen Wysong, who was born on June 19, 1892 to Jacob Ambrose and Eliza Ellen (Lozier) Wysong, near Ayr, Nebraska. Susie Wysong's grandparents were Jacob Ambrose Wysong, Sr., and Rebecca Elizabeth (Eubank) Wysong, and also Nicholas Lozier and Amanda Jane (Olinger) Lozier. Further, the youngest brother of this Mason family, Harley, married Ardell Jane Wysong, sister of the above named Susie Ellen Wysong. Both the Lester Mason and the Harley Mason families lived in Major County, Oklahoma. I do not have any additional information on Eliza Ellen Lozier, but I might be able to give you names of some of her descendants who might know more about her. Email me privately, jmfreed@midohio.net

This certainly gives me many clues for further research! Is there any information in your book about John Lee Lozier's sister, Eliza Ellen? She is now the only child of my "Nicholas and Amanda Lozier family group" without dates or places. Again, I sincerely appreciate all of the information you have shared! Linda

Posted on: Major County, Ok Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ok/Major/329 Surname: Lozier, Mason, Early, Burchfield, Olinger, Berge, Taylor, Taylor ------------------------- Linda, In response to your message on the Major County (OK) Query Forum: Concerning your Lozier ancestry, I do not have any primary documentation of the following, but this gives you names to search. This comes from my "Mason-White Family History" (1990), page 287, by James M. Freed. The information was provided by a descendant of John and Lova (Mason) Lozier. John Lee Lozier married Lova Ellen Mason, June 29, 1902, near what is now Ames [Major County], OK. Lova was the first child of Jacob Harvey and Alice (Early) Mason, and was born April 12, 1877, near Kokomo [Howard County], Indiana. She died July 26, 1942, in Enid, OK, and was buried in the Ames Cemetery. John Lee Lozier was born May 11, 1881, Oak Valley, Kansas, son of Nicholas Lozier and Amanda (Olinger) Lozier. He was the grandson of Simon Lozier and Susan (Berge) Lozier and also of George Olinger and Martha (Taylor) Olinger. He died Nov. 11, 1955, Enid, OK and was buried in the Ames Cemetery, Major County, OK. >From page 835 of The Mason-White Family History, 1990 (again, I do not have primary documentation of this information that was provided by a descendant): John Lee Lozier's sister, Martha (Mattie) Susan Lozier, was born June 18, 1879, Cherryvale [Montgomery County], Kansas. She died July 14, 1969, Mooreland [Woodward County], Oklahoma and was buried in the Curtis Cemetery [Woodward County], OK. She married Charles (Chuck) Newton Mason, March 2, 1896, Enid, Oklahoma. He was born Oct. 17, 1878, Howard County, Indiana, son of Simon Peter Mason and Elizabeth (White) Mason, and was a brother of Jacob Harvey Mason named above. He died May 18, 1956, Enid, Oklahoma was was buried in the Curtis Cemetery, Woodward County, Oklahoma. Copies of my "Mason-White Family History" are available at the Enid, OK Library, and also at the Fairview City [Major County, OK] Library and the Major County Historical Society Library.
Posted on: Major County, Ok Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ok/Major/328 Surname: Coulter, Burchfield, Mason, Lozier ------------------------- The Coulters mentioned in my message are my gr gr grandfather, John Wylie and his sons, Milton Jay and James Milligan. Milton and a younger brother, Fredrick, came from Nebraska to Major OK to homestead in 1894. They brought supplies by horse/wagon to build a house, then the women, children and elders came by train. Your Edith Viola Coulter Burchfield is the sister of my grandfather, Jay Wylie. My gr grandfather, James Milligan, married Alice Lozier. Her mother, Amanda J Lozier, sisters and brother also came from Nebraska with them to Major county. I have very recently discovered that John Lozier's wife, Lova, was a Mason. And just last week learned that John's sister, Martha Susan, married Charles N Mason. I have very little information on the Loziers, none on the Masons and only basic family group information on the Burchfields.
Posted on: Major County, Ok Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ok/Major/326 Surname: Coulter, Burchfield, Mason, Lozier ------------------------- I have information about the Burchfield, Mason, and Lozier names in your message. The limited reference to the Coulter name in my book, "The Mason-White Family History" (published 1990), which features many families in the Ames area of Major County, Oklahoma, is on page 484 in which I list that John Edward Burchfield married Edith Viola Coulter. The John and Edith (Coulter) Burchfield family is listed through their grandchildren and some of their great grandchildren. John Burchfield was a first cousin to my grandmother, Emma (Mason) Freed, and the ancestry of the Burchfields and Masons are given in this book back to the 1700's, although not well-documented that far for the Burchfield (Bortsfield, etc.) line. Although I did not personally know John Burchfield, his brother, "Pete" Burchfield was a barber in Enid, Oklahoma and was our family barber for several years.
