OBITUARIES: Fairview Republican, Aug. 25, 1916 George Cousins Died, at his home northwest of Fairview, Friday afternoon, August 18th, George Cousins, at the age of 75 years, 5 months and 3 days. Mr. Cousins was born at Dorsetshire, England, March 14, 1843 and came to this country in 1870. He was married to his wife, who survives him, in 1875 and to this union, only one child was born, a son, W.F. Cousins who was with him throughout his last illness. Cancer was the final cause of his death, having had an operation performed many years ago but it came back and caused him untold agony until his death. He came to this country shortly after the opening of this country and lived continuously on his claim for 22 years. He always took an active interest in the upbuilding of the country and was well liked by all his neighbors, a good citizen and will be missed from this community. The body was laid to rest in the cemetery west of Orienta, at peace to the world and relieved from his sufferings. The sympathy of the entire community goes out to the bereaved relatives. Fairview Republican, Mar. 14, 1929 A Loved One Gone "Ere Sin could blight or sorrow fade, Death came with friendly care. The opening bud to heaven conveyed, And bade it blossom there." On March 5th, 1929, the dark angel of death visited the home of Mr. and Mrs. William L. Cousins and took from their family circle their beloved baby daughter, Betty Jean, aged 2 months and 5 days. Everything that willing hands and kind hearts could do to save the life of the loved one was of no avail. There was more than the usual interest felt over this little soul by the whole community as she was one of the first twins born in Cleo Springs. Funeral services were conducted at the M.E. church by Rev. Peebles and the little form was laid to rest by the side of her grand-father, George Cousins in the Orienta cemetery. This good family has the sympathy of all their host of friends in their sad bereavement. "A loving one from us has gone A voice in love is stilled, A place is vacant in our hearts, Which never can be filled." Card of Thanks We desire to thank the many friends and neighbors for sympathy and help in our recent bereavement and burial of our daughter, and sister, Betty Jean. Mr. and Mrs. W.F. Cousins Virginia E. Cousins Elmer J. Cousins Christie Fay Cousins Fairview Republican, Feb. 24, 1938 Ellen Cousins Dies From Auto Injuries (I believe this is Ella Chapman in Saron Mennonite Cemetery) Mrs. Ellen Cousins, of Grove and former county resident, 46, died in a Vinita hospital last Wednesday from a cerebral concussion received in an auto accident near Vinita which occurred last Sunday. She was the wife of W.F. Cousins. Her remains were returned to Fairview and interment was made in the Orienta cemetery. 3. Dear List Members - PLEASE DO NOT OPEN ANY ATTACHMENTS on the personal e-mail you are receiving without being 100% plus sure who it is from and that it is not a virus and the only way you can be this sure is run a Virus Scan. The new one now is "Homepage" If you open the Homepage attachment, it sends a copy of itself to everyone in your address book. Homepage then randomly chooses an adult Web page to display on the system's default Internet browser." To learn more aobut this one go to http://www.zdnet.com/zdhelp/stories/main/0,5594,2708116,00.html Homepage is just one of many. If you would like to know more about all of this you can join the Virus Discussion Mailing list by sending the word Subscribe to VIRUS-DISCUSSION-L-REQUEST@ROOTSWEB.COM We are going to be OK. These viruses cannot be sent through Rootweb so it is up to each of us to protect our fellow members. When I get a message from one of you and see that you have the virus, your e-mail address is unsubscribed from the mailing list until you get your computer system clean and then you are welcomed back with open arms. Just remember - do not open ANY attachements unless you are sure it is not a virus. If you are not sure - delete it. Those of us who are deeply nvolved in our genealogical research are so fearful that we are going to delete that one clue, which we have been waiting for, that many of us are opening these attachements - taking the chance - and because of this we are being hit hard by the virus. I appreciate your help with this. Kathleen Burnett List Mom

Hoeffliger, William M. 1850-1944 - obit says he was a Civil War vet - joined as a substitute with Illinois Co. D 123rd Infantry. She asks how you got the info for your list (from a national list?) and is the same sort of info available for the other wars? Her father is active in the American Legion and they (she & her father) have taken on the project of making sure all veterans are recognized so she appreciates any help you can provide. Thanks.
