My gr-gr-grandparents are buried at the Ames Cemetery, and I was wondering if I could get an obituray on Christina. She died in a horse and buggy accident crossing some railroad tracks while visiting her sons in Ames and Major County in 1906. She died in the area on November 24, 1906.

Dear List Members, Here it is the end June and time for the Second Quarterly Report for 2001. Can you believe how fast the time has passed? This one almost passed me by. The OKMAJOR Mailing List has 86 members, 75 on the Regular list and there are 11 members on the Digest List. As most of you know by now, the GenConnect Boards have changed. Rootsweb.com and Ancestry.com are continuing their merger and now have merged the GenConnect Boards. I am not sure of my feeling regarding this yet, but will watch it and let you know. I am not one to jump to conclusions quickly. I also take care of many GenConnect Boards and did loose all of them in which I did not take care of the Query board due all the boards, bios, wills, pensions, etc. being combined within the Query board. If you used one of these boards, now you know why I suddenly disappeared. I know many of you have concerns regarding copyright laws and the information you post to the boards and the mailing lists. The following was posted by Rootsweb Management. "When you post messages to mailing lists, message boards, and other facilities at RootsWeb, those posts remain your property under copyright law." The same is true for those using the message boards at Ancestry.com. In short, if you posted it, you own it." If you are interested in knowing about other mailing list out there, one of the very best inventories of genealogical mailing lists is John Fullers Genealogy Resources on the Internet located at http://www.rootsweb.com/~jfuller/gen_mail.html If you ever need to unsubscribe from this list or any rootsweb list all you need to do is visit Password Central located at http://passwordcentral.rootsweb.com/ Follow the instructions and you will received an e-mail of all lists you belong to and from it you can unsubscribe from the ones you want to. Always know that I will be more than happy to help you if you are having problems unsubscribing, you only need to ask. If you would like to visit the Archived messages of this list, go to http://archiver.rootsweb.com/ and type in the name of the list you would like to search. Please remember, so that this list is better for each of us, the posting of virus warnings, test messages, chain letters, political announcements, current events, items for sale, personal messages, flames, etc., in other words Spam is NOT ALLOWED and will be grounds for removal. Consideration for exceptions, contact me at KathleenBurnett@earthlink.net There are a few items I would like to suggest for the benefit of each of us. 1. If someone posts a message to the list that should not have been posted, please just delete it. Know that I am taking care of the problem. If you post your unhappiness, then you just continue on the problem. I know it is hard when your heart has been offended, but for my sake, and the sake of the list, please just delete it. Rootsweb has a wonderful Spam Detective and it stops most of it. You should see what comes across my screen. I have to look at each of them to make sure that what was stopped was truly Spam. Once in a while, one slips by though and if this happens, just delete it and go on with what we all love, genealogical research. 2. If you would put the subject of your posting in the subject line it might give you a better chance to attract the attention of someone who has the information you are looking for or the attention of someone who is searching for the information you are posting. 3. Please remember to delete the tags and un-needed words when you re-send a message to the list with your answer. If you don't check this, your responses can become quite large and may cause problems with some of our member's servers. This member who might not be able to receive your message because of its size, just might be your long lost second cousin with all the answers you are looking for. 4. The wonderful relationship that develops between list members is also one of a Mailing Lists Problems. I encourage you to respond to the entire list with genealogical responses, you never know who your response will help. In the same thought I would like to ask you to not respond to the entire list with personal responses. Such as, the first message from a member says "Happy Birthday Mary" and then Mary says "Thank you and then about 60 of our members also send "Happy Birthday Mary". This is what I mean by personal messages. Just keep in mind anything is ok to be posted as long as it has to do with the subject of the list. If you have a doubt ask me. KathleenBurnett@earthlink.net 5. Remember to keep your Virus protection up to date and never open any attached file unless you are 100% sure what it is and even then you are taking a chance. I want to thank each of you for your continued support of me and your willingness to help make this list the success it is. Kathleen Burnett List Mom KathleenBurnett@earthlink.net

Thanks for letting me know about the mistake. This just came with some more addresses so sending it out again. I wrote that the hobby was a fast growing one that was giving many more people pride in their country and ancestors and how much history we were learning and that this was our last resort in many cases to learn maiden names of women. Also emphasized what a handicap it was to so many of the new friends I have made who are housebound and on low budgets and that this will greatly decrease their ability to participate in their new found friendships and hobby. For those not knowing. President was spelled wrong in the one I sent before so unless you retyped it it bounced. My grandparents were William Graves and Nellie Jesse (Handy) Graves. Their son Paul William Graves died in Ames in 1930. I understand that both William and wife are buried at Ames also. In addition, I believe my grandparents John Thomas Buttram and his wife Luella (Louella) Lee Buttram are buried at/near Ames also. My aunt Cecelia/Celia Sloan was a resident of Ames. Many more - they were there from time of land rush. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.
Posted on: Major County, Ok Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ok/Major/10450 Surname: Creech, Cox, Hanks, Forsythe, Martin, Critz, Troilo, Collier ------------------------- Hi Pat, Thanks for your response. Yes, that Omer that is buried there was the son of JOhn M Creech and wife Nettie Cox. They moved back to Wolfe Co KY. One of their daughters is still alive there. Hanks, yes, supposedly that line is related to Nancy Hanks LIncoln. Nancy Alice Cox, the wife of Wm. Patton Creech of Major/Woods/Woodward Co Ok ,was the dau of Fielden Cox (as was Nettie). Fielden was the son of Annie Hanks and James Cox. Annie was the dau of Fielden Hanks the brother of Nancy. There is usually some static about this-seems everyone wants to claim Nancy. However, the authorities on the subject (2 that I know of) give Nancy as the sister of Fielden. Their father was Abraham Hanks and wife Sarah Harper. Several of the Hanks, Cox and Creech people cliamed land under the Mississippi Choctaw Land giveaway. However, the did not qualify-not sure why not except maybe not enough Indian blood in the line. Altho there was Indian blood- Marsil in NM
