Yes I have been in contact with Vi Gee , she is my cousin and Becky Kersey Saunders is my daughter. Vi Gee found Goldsmith's grave in Hennessey under the name Goldsmith Kerse but I would like to find an obit if it exists as we have no idea the cause of death at such a young age.( 23). He was a brother to my grandfather Russell Kersey and Vi Gee's grandfather John T. Kersey. All three boys made the 93' land rush with their mother and staked claims near Fairview. My father Earl B. and I were both born on the land
Phyllis, I have record of a George Carpenter b. 1888 who had daughter Frances Josephine Carpenter b. 3 Dec 1918 in Seiling OK. The names are similar. Could this be the family you are inquiring about? Inquiry: Did Fairview have a newspaper in 1890 and if so would there be an obit for a Goldsmith Kersey who died in Hennessey Dec. 31, 1890? Thanks for any Info. Earl B Kersey
Earl, You might have better luck searching Kingfisher County as Hennessey is located in the north central part of that county. I would say search the Kingfisher or even the Enid, Garfield County papers. Check out the following link: http://www.ok-history.mus.ok.us/news/newsm.htm Then click on search counties and Kingfisher. Fairview wasn't settled until Sept. 1893. I have searched for Goldsmith to no avail. He seems to have vanished! Have you contacted Vi Gee in Texas or Becky Kersey in Kansas? I have done work on the Kerseys for them. Contact me at MajorCook@yahoo.com for addresses and I'll try to gather the info I sent them. Pat Weaver, Major Co. Pleasant Hill cemetery is east of Ringwood, as previously written.
Thank you very much.
Pleasant Hill Cemetery is West of Ringwood, on U.S. hwy 60, about 2 1/2 miles. The cemetery records are in the Fairview Public Library, open on Saturday morning until noon. Also, we have obituary records there. Good luck Jim Wilkinson
Pleasant Hill Cemetery is 2 1/2 miles east of Ringwood, OK on Highway 60 on the north side. It's easy to spot. Very nice cemetery. As to the Sexton, I'm not sure since we have had so many deaths of Sextons lately. You might check with the Fairview Funeral Home at 580-227-4722. I went through the 1906, Nov 23, 30 to Dec 21st paper and didn't spot an obituary for Christina STUTZ. I also checked the Enid paper and didn't see an article about her death. Interesting front page to the paper, a full page ad for Bower Bro. I will be making a trip to Oklahoma this weekend and would like to pay a visit to at least Pleasant Hill Cemetary. I am wondering how to find the cemetery, the size of the cemetery, and also who the sexton is and how to contact them? Thank you for your help.
Thanks a bunch! I appreciate it! Kathie Stutz-Soto

Tammie and I want to thank publicly the many members and volunteers who have made our Website possible. Your names are to numerous to even try to list. If we tried, we would surely leave out some of you. Without the help and dedication of each of you, the Oklahoma Cemeteries Volunteer and Cemetery Inventory webpage would not be what it is today. I am in awe of those who so willing walk the cemeteries, both in the heat and in the cold, fighting chiggers, ticks and snakes, inventorying these sacred grounds of our ancestors and taking pictures of the stones so you and I can find the resting place of our ancestors and gaze upon their names from the comfort of our homes. When I think of the hundreds of e-mails with inventories that Tammie and I have received, the thousands of photos that we have received and continue to receive, those out there, even today, inventorying Oklahoma cemeteries, the willingness of volunteers to search the books and papers they have, to help strangers, I know without a doubt that those on our list and our fellow Oklahoma researchers are a special group of people and Tammie and I feel blessed to be a part of you. Buried at Ames Cemetery: Wood - Margaret L. 1908-1940 Lois C. 1898-1942 John A. 1902-1935 Earl A. - -1924 I could find no obituaries or land records. Since they are buried at Ames, you might try Garfield Co. or Kingfisher Co. Good Luck. Pat Weaver
Jim, I found very little. There was no obit and the newspapers on microfilm don't go back that far. Gloss Mountain Country, Major Co. History Book: Mr. Charles Bullard, Mr. Dewater, & Mr. Gard all picked areas of their land for a cemetery. It was decided that whoever died first, that's whose land the cemetery would be on. Mr. Dewater died first. The cemetery is the Cheyenne Valley Cemetery and his stone reads: E. Hamilton DeWater 6-29-1848 - 2-17-1895 The date indicated he is the first burial in the cemetery and he is the only DeWater. Good Luck. Pat Weaver
I'm sorry. I posted this in the wrong place. It's in response to Christina Stutz Obit Lookup by Kathie Soto 6 Jul 2001. Pat Weaver
