Tommy Higle, pastor of Marietta's First Baptist Church, officiating. Mr. Folsom was born February 7, 1907, in Dixie, Indian Territory, the son of Peter Ward and Diddie Auld Folsom. He died October 9, 1992, at the Love County Health Center, Marietta, at the age of 85. A resident of Love County most of his life, Mr. Folsom was a former State Representative, a retired school teacher and superintendent. He taught in a a number of schools in the area, including Leon, Burneyville, Greenville, and Plainview and in some schools that are no longer in existence. Mr. Folsom was a member of the Love County Retired Teachers Association, National Educators Association, and the Oklahoma Educators Association. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Masonic Lodge. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Louise Folsom of the home at Greenville; three sons, Charles T. Folsom of San Benito, Texas, Terry W. Folsom of Ardmore, and Jim W. Folsom of Marietta; three daughters, Mona C. Bland of Terrell, Texas, Peggy McPherson of Grapevine, Texas, and Beverly Thomas of Lewisville, Texas; a sister, Ethel Creel of Quitman, Texas; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Mr. Folsom was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen Fisher Folsom, on November 8, 1961. Services were under the direction of the Anderson-Kennedy Funeral Home.
