Westmoreland, 69, were Monday at 10:30 a.m. in the Anderson-Kennedy Chapel with Rev. Tim Emmons, minister of the Eastside Baptist Church, officiating. Born May 3, 1925, at Leon, Mr. Westmoreland died February 24, 1995, in the Love County Health Center, Marietta. He was the son of Vernie R. and Maud Ellen Nelson Westmoreland. Mr. Westmoreland was one of 11 children, seven boys and four girls. A resident of this area since 1942, he was of the Protestant faith. Mr. Westmoreland served in the Army in the Mediterranean Theater during World War II and retired as a boiler maker in 1976. Mr. Westmoreland and Cherry Murphy were married March 16, 1952, in Marietta, and she preceded him in death on December 8, 1993. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Michael Jay and Dr. Loralu Raburn Westmoreland of Amarillo, Texas, and Lyndal Ray and Jerri Westmoreland of El Reno; two daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah Sue and David Brown of Marietta and Sandee and Larry Nixon of Durant; two sisters, Jo Arthur of Wichita Falls, Texas, and Marie Langley of Kingfisher; and three grandchildren, T. Jay Woodall of Marietta and Manette Ch'von Nixon and Lucretia D'nae Nixon of Durant. Services were under the direction of the Anderson-Kennedy Funeral Home with interment in Lakeview Cemetery. Pallbearers were Gilbert Sparks, Ray Blades, Tom Wolfe, Harvey Stewart, Winston Warthen and W.T. Warthen. Honorary bearers included Chad McMillian, B.J. Wright, Randall Colston and Cotton Wolfe.
