He and Juanita Flint were married in January, 1942, and she preceded him in death on October 31, 1997. Mrs. Hickman was born February 26, 1914, at Greenville, the daughter of Edgar Eugene Holt and Rosetta Snell Holt. She died Sunday, April 20, 2003, in a local hospital. Mrs. Hickman was a longtime resident of this area and worked selling Studio Girl Cosmetics. She attended the Asbury United Methodist Church. She and Aubrey Hickman were married on April 16, 1932, in Ardmore and he preceded her in death. Survivors include a daughter Jeanette Rylant and a daughter-in-law, Margaret Hickman, both of Greenville; three grand-daughters, Debra Evans of Greenville, Carol Brawley of Lebanon, and Sharon Furnier of California; three grandsons, Billy and Mark Fuston of Ardmore and Darryl Hickman of Greenville. Mrs. Hickman was also preceded in death by her parents; 12 brothers and sisters; one son, Donald R. Hickman; one grand-son; one great-grandson; and one great-great-grandson. Pallbearers were great-grandsons, Brad Hubbard, Clay Berkes, Zepplin Anderson, Matt Hickman, and Adam and Shane Fuston. Simon, 77, of Marietta, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, August 1, at Eastside Baptist Church with the Rev. Ronnie Harris officiating, and Carol Wayne Flanagan delivering the eulogy. Mr. Simon was born August 20, 1925, in Love County, the son of Ben and Berta Mae Foster Simon. He died Tuesday, July 29, 2003, at his home in Marietta. Born and raised in Love County, Mr. Simon moved to Grand Prairie, Texas, at the age of 24 and then returned to Marietta to make his home in 1971. He and Loucreta Sconce were married September 25, 1944, in Marietta. A World War II Army veteran, Mr. Simon received the Victory Medal and the Rifle M-1 Marksman Medal. He earned a master plumber's license in Austin, Texas, and he was foreman for Dennis Brothers Plumbing Company in Grand Prairie for 12 years. While living there, he also coached boys baseball teams for four years. After returning to Marietta, Mr. Simon began his own plumbing business. He was a member of Eastside Baptist Church, Marietta, where he served as a deacon. Survivors include his wife, Lou Simon, of the home; two sons and daughter-in-law, Douglas F. Jr. and Barbara Simon of Grand Prairie and Larry Simon of Austin; a daughter, Donna Lou Simon of Austin; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grand-children. Mr. Simon was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, John Stephen Simon on August 31, 2002. Serving as pallbearers will be Wayne Bond, Dale Harris, Al Hendrix, G.W. Flanagan, Leon Brown and Carol Wayne Flanagan. Honorary pallbearers will be Jess Bond, Marty Ross and Thurman Vinson. Mr. Blakley also worked as a carpenter's helper. He attended the Leon Baptist Church. Survivors include his grandmother, Georgia Hartman of Leon. Mr. Blakley was preceded in death by his father on August 22, 1993; his mother, April 22, 2003; and a brother, Brandy Allen Blakley on August 12, 2000. Pallbearers were family and friends. She died Saturday, July 26, 2003, in the Elmbrook Nursing Home, Ardmore. A resident of Jackson County most of her life, Mrs. Evans moved to Overbrook to make her home in 1988. She and Andrew A. Nichols were married in Altus in September 1929. She later married George Groff Evans at Elmer in May 1950. Both husbands preceded her in death. Mrs. Evans was a homemaker. She attended school at Whitney, Texas, and also at Buffalo, east of Caddo. Mrs. Evans was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, Altus. She was a Sunday School teacher, active in WMU, served as Church Clerk and also assisted with Vacation Bible School at the Elmer Baptist Church. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Harold G. and Marion Nichols of Overbrook and Gary W. and Linda Nichols of Wichita Falls, Texas; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild. Mrs. Evans was also preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, William Dollins, Wendell Dollins, Elmer Dollins, Walter Dollins and Grady Dollins; and two sisters, Mildred Smith and Lena Howard. Pallbearers were great-grandsons, Steven Houdek, Danny Houdek, Matt Thurmond, Brandon Wyatt, Eric Wyatt and Reese Thurmond. Honorary pallbearers were great-grandchildren, Mitzi Flynn, Rachel Colston, Alec Nichols, Bradi Nichols, Andrew Nichols and D.J. Flynn. My husbands family descended from a Benjamin lyon originally from Virginia and then went to Kansas then to whereever else I don't know. His son Frank Campbell Lyons married a Sarah Francis Carlile who was the child of Sarah Jane Owen and a William or Thomas Carlile. Maybe we could have some of the same people in our line.
