A memorial service was 9:30 a.m. today at Cottonwood Creek Baptist Church at Allen, Texas. Mr. May died Sept. 9, 2003, at a Dallas hospital. He was born Oct. 7, 1961, at Fremont, Calif., to James C. and Anita Conley Harris. He graduated from Turner High School in 1979 and received an associate’s degree from Murray State College, Tishomingo, Okla. He worked in the cable television business for 10 years. He lived in Allen and Plano for the past six years, where he was senior operations manager for Kelly Management Services. He was a member of Cottonwood Creek Baptist Church, Allen. He married LeeAnne Montgomery June 6, 1981, at Eastman. They lived in Lone Grove, Okla., Ada, Okla., and Durant, Okla. He was preceded in death by his father, Jim C. May, June 26, 1982; his grandfathers, Cliff Bradley, Cliff Conley; and his grandmother, Nadine Conley. Survivors include his wife, LeeAnne May, of the home; his mother and stepfather, Anita and Richard Harris, Euless, Texas; two daughters, Malori May and Natalie May, both of the home; a son, Michael May, of the home; two brothers, Jimmy May and wife Glenda, Healdton, Okla., Danny May and wife Suzanne, Euless; his grandmother, Maxine Bradley, Marietta, Okla.; and his father-in-law and wife, J.C. and Rowena Montgomery, Eastman. Bearers are Greg Hallum, Tim Montgomery, Danny May, Chet Fisher, Dillon May and Montre Douglass. Honorary bearers are Cameron Riddels and Hyman Sharpe. He and Vivian Sipes were married March 29, 1951, in Ardmore. Survivors include a brother, Odell Floyd of Keller, Texas; three sisters, Pat Free of Newton Square, Pennsylvania, Jo Henry of Atlanta, Georgia, and Cecilia Brandenberger of Alameda, California; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Floyd was preceded in death by his wife on August 4, 1990; a sister and a brother. Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Ardmore, under the direction of Kennedy Funeral Home. Mrs. Smith was a retired secretary and a member of the Rubottom Baptist Church. She also attended the Lone Grove Senior Citizens Center and was an avid bingo player. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Margie Light of Lone Grove; three grandsons and their wives, Randy and Raquel Light, Bobby and Marla Light and Tadd and Melanie Light; and four great-grandchildren. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband on September 20, 1988; an infant daughter; and two brothers, Arthur Blankenship and Jack Blankenship. I assume this is Dr. W.V. Batson who was a physician and surgeon. This information was found in a book published in 1912 and compiled by R.A. Young. The book was called a Dictionary of Oklahoma Towns and contained the names of the business and professional people in most of the towns in the state. 1961 - the Assistant County District Attorney was John Steele Batson. 1925 - among subscribers to the phone service were Autry & Batson and Dr. Batson. The Civil Service Commission is undertaking to obtain the services of as many individuals as possible with the distinct idea in mind of hiring those people who are skilled to a certain extent in a trade such as plumber, sheet metal worker, carpenter, etc. Transportation will be paid by the Government from the applicant's residence to the port of embarkation and from the port of embarkation to the Naval Yard in Hawaii. Mrs. Finton was born March 1, 1918, in Humbolt, South Dakota, the daughter of Christian and Elma Reickelt Larson, and died October 4, 1992, in an Ardmore hospital. A resident of Marietta for 14 years, she moved here from Rochester, Minnesota. She married LeRoy Finton October 20, 1938, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Mrs. Finton was a homemaker and a member of the Marietta First Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband, LeRoy Finton of the home; two sons, Robert A. Finton of White Pine, Michigan, and LeRoy Finton, Jr. of San Jose, California; a daughter, JoAnn DeLeo of Gilroy, California; three brothers, Simon Larson of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Willie Larson of Sioux Falls, and Eli Larson of Germantown, Ohio; four sisters, Mable Gyberg of Luverne, Minnesota, Lillian Finton of Lone Grove, Ruby Sonan of Coleman, South Dakota, and Evelyn Knott of San Jose; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Interment was in Woodland Cemetery, Sioux Falls, under the direction of Chapel Hill Funeral Home, Sioux Falls. Local arrangements were under the direction of the Anderson-Kennedy Funeral Home. Officiating was Rev. James Evans. Born December 28, 1897, in Parker County, Texas, Mrs. Thompson died October 2, 1992, in the Love County Health Center, Marietta, at the age of 94. She was the daughter of Henry and Ida Howell Dennis. Mrs. Thompson had lived in Love County since 1915. She was a member of the Rubottom Baptist Church and was active many years in the Brushy Mound Extension Club. She married O.K. Thompson, Sr. December 23, 1915, at Wichita Falls, Texas. Survivors include two sons and daughter-in-law, Knox and Patty Thompson of Rubottom and Dennis Thompson of Long Beach, California; two sisters, Juanita Thompson of Electra, Texas, and Ada Clarida of Lyford, Texas; seven grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Thompson was preceded in death by her husband on July 8, 1969; two daughters, Aline Thompson in 1966 and Maxine Patty in 1981; a great-grandson, Joe Keith Thompson in February 1992; and several brothers and sisters.
