Dear Fellow Genealogists, You are invited to a Heritage Day Rally at the Oklahoma State Capitol on Tuesday, March 11. Sponsored by the Oklahoma Historical Society and a coalition of Oklahoma historical, genealogical and lineage organizations to show appreciation for our history and support for the preservation of that history, the day will begin at 10:00 a.m. at the auditorium of the Wiley Post Building of the Oklahoma Historical Society at 2100 N. Lincoln, Oklahoma City. After receiving details about the legislation needed, the attendees will proceed to the Capitol to speak with their legislators about the importance of completing the funding for the new Oklahoma History Center by authorizing the sale of the final $18 million in bonds needed to complete the project. Attendees will have the opportunity to tour the newly reopened Research Library and also to take a "hard hat" tour of the new History Center site. The OHS parking lot will be reserved for your convenience and shuttle vans will be available to move you around once you are parked. All three venues -- lobbying at the Capitol, the Library tour and the hard hat tour -- will be available beginning at 10:00 a.m. and continue until 3 p.m. We hope you can join us at the rally and encourage you to invite others who believe in the future of Oklahoma and who have an interest in her past. If you cannot be there, you can still support the effort by writing, calling or e-mailing your legislators to urge their support. For more information, please call the Oklahoma Historical Society at 405-521-2491. We hope to see you there. Sincerely, Oklahoma Genealogical Society Board of Directors P.O. Box 12986 Oklahoma City, OK 73157 Billie Fogarty, President

Mears is still there. It has been turned into a restaurant housed in the original building. Looks like it too, but the food is excellent. It is not in Lincoln Co., but in Comanche Co. near Lawton, OK, in the Wichital Mountains. I lived in Lawton for 20 years and went there many times. It has an operating seizmograph (monitoring earthquakes). The floors creek and it looks like it's about to fall down, but it's one of the most popular places to eat and see in that area. Unfortunately, I don't know about the people who live there now or in the past, but I'm sure if you write to the Oklahoma Genealogical Society or Historical Society they would be able to give you plenty of information about it. It's a really cool place, I visit there whenever I go back. I am planning a trip this month, actually, from the 15th to the 20th. Would you like me to pick up some information for you? In that case I would need your address in order to send it to you. Let me know. Analee [email protected]

If you have not visited the Oklahoma Survey and Virtual Cemetery website. (Oklahoma Cemeteries Mailing List Homepage) lately, you should take a moment and check out all of the cemetery data that has been added and is being added daily. http://www.rootsweb.com/~okcemete/okcem.htm This website is becoming one valuable research tools on the internet, for those looking for the missing graves of their ancestors of Oklahoma. As you enjoy the information take a moment and send a quiet thank you to the many many volunteers who have made this site possible for us. These volunteers spend their free surveying cemeteries, taking photos and placing the data online so we can have access to the information from our homes.. They do it only for the love of helping their fellow Oklahoma researchers, never ask for thanks or regeneration. I for one am in awe of this kind of dedication. Kathleen Burnett List Mom

Hi there. I'm just now getting back to my e-mail...sorry. Rossville Cemetary is near the town of Shawnee, Oklahoma. Take US 177 north from Shawnee. I don't remember how many miles, but it will be on the left side as you are traveling north. Hand Fudge and her two sons, Ray and Charles Franklin Fudge. They appear in the 1900 census living in Otoe Twp. of Lincoln Co., OK. Then in the 1910 census Lucy Fudge is a patient in the Oklahoma Hospital for the Insane in Norman Twp. of Lincoln Co., OK. The two sons aren't found in the 1910 Oklahoma soundex. Lucy Hand Fudge was born in 1863 and supposedly died in 1918. Where, I don't know!! Ray Fudge was born in May of 1896 and Charles Franklin Fudge was born in April of 1884. What happened to this family? The husband/father was John H. Fudge who showed up in the 1900 census living alone in Lowe Twp., Braman, Kay Co., Oklahoma! However, he doesn't show up in the 1910 soundex.

Gregory, Sr who obtained land in the 1891 land run. He and Margaret Feezell Gregory had the following children:James H. Gregory, Jr, Ebenezer Alexander Greory, Margaret Lucinda Gregory Alexander, Robert G. Gregory, Alice Gregory Shipman Weaver Griffith, and John W. Gregory. These families lived in and around Prague, Meeker, Stroud, Davenport, Oilton, Shawnee, Chandler, Drumright. We went to a reunion at Ron Gregory's house in Claremore in September 2002. Ron is the son of Ebenezer Alexander Gregory. James H. Gregory, Sr also had a brother by the same name who should have descendants in the area. We have mineral rights to the land near Prague, OK but nothing has ever happened even though they drilled and capped a well. The price went down and the lease ran out. No one has contacted us since. If any one has tried to contact Gary Gregory at [email protected] the address has been changed to genebug @msn.com and I am th! e one to contact. My husband does no genealogy, only reaps the rewards. By the way, at the reunion in Claremore was the first time my husband had ever seen any of these cousins.
