    1. [OKLINCOLN] From List Mom - Thank you
    2. Kathleen
    3. Dear List Members, I belong to many mailing list besides the ones I am List Mom for. I had a real eye opener this weekend on several of them and it made me appreciate each of you more than you will ever know. I saw members putting each other down, demeaning one another, screaming at each other if one could scream via an e-mail. I saw new members leave because they were made to feel foolish only because they did not know the rules of the list. I feel blessed to be the List Mom of your list and I thank you with all of my heart for the manner in which you handle yourselves on it and for the way you treat each other. Because of each of you I am able to take care of as many lists and I do - and love each and every moment of it. Kathleen Burnett List Mom

    1. [OKLINCOLN] Please email me if you have heard of George or Dillie HARTSELL
    2. Lena Seng
    3. Posted on: Lincoln Co. Ok Queries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/Ok/Lincoln/246 Surname: COPPLE, HARTSELL, WALLACE ------------------------- I am searching for a marriage, obit and death cert for Dillie J./Della Copple Wallace Hartsell. She lived in Ralston, Pawnee County with her 1st husband Walter [Dick] Wallace on the 1900 OK Census. Dillie and Dick divorced 23 Sept 1905 in Pawnee County and Dillie is living alone on the 1910 Census for Pawnee County. Then apparently between 1910 and 1920 she married a George W. HARTSELL as they are listed on the 1920 Census in Lincoln County, North Fox Twp, I believe Kendrick Town. They were not married too long as she passed away six years later in Oct of 1926 and is buried in the Fairfax, Osage County cemetery. I have been unable to find out where and when George and Dillie married and what happened during those six years that she would be living in Lincoln Co in 1920 but the only Hartsell buried in Fairfax Cem Osage Co in 1926. If anyone ever sees the George or Dillie HARTSELL name in their research or has any suggestions for researching Lincoln Co records please let me know.

    1. [OKLINCOLN] Hyatt,Price, Lee, Smith
    2. Pat
    3. My early settlers were the McElvany's, and Tower and Smith family in Lincloln Co. As I was reading my Smith history which is not on the website yet I came across this on the Hyatt family. #3 Robert Perry Smith (Bud) married Susanna Price Lee, Hyatt in 1915 in Lincoln County Oklahoma. Susanna Price Lee Hyatt was born 8 February 1863 in Newton County Arkansas; died 2 April 1948 at her home near Prague, Oklahoma. She and her family moved to Oklahoma in 1896 and to Lincoln County in 1898. She had four Hyatt children. Two children preceded her in death; a daughter, Mrs. Henry Sharp and a son, Frank Hyatt survived her. So the Lee and Hyatt families were also early settlers of Lincoln County. http://www.geocities.com/fcruble/velmasfamilygenealogy.html

    1. [OKLINCOLN] Run of 1891
    2. In a message dated 2/13/01 7:49:21 PM Mountain Standard Time, OKLINCOL-D-request@rootsweb.com writes: << I had been using the Lincoln County website to determine if my ancestors had made the 1891 land run. The information on the site did not match an old letter I had from a relative. >> If you are referring to the page headed "LINCOLN COUNTY, OKLAHOMA TERRITORY ORIGINAL LAND RECORDS", please note that these lists were compiled from land maps some years after the Run -- plenty of time for a number of claims to have changed hands. I've found them quite useful in placing a family in the area in Territorial Days and helpful in deciphering some entries on the 1900 census -- but they certainly don't include all of the original patent holders. << Send a SASE and request a copy of the tract record from the Lincoln County Museum. This is the true document that shows who owned the land. There is a minimal charge for the copy. Then you can request the ownership document from the County Clerk. >> Excellent advice, IF you have the exact land description. If you don't, you can request a lookup in the Federal Land Tract records themselves from the Southwest Oklahoma Genealogical Society. Their website is: http://www.sirinet.net/~lgarris/swogs I do have their index booklet that covers the eastern part of Lincoln County, so can tell you if anyone with a particular surname is on the list. I can NOT tell you the applicant's full name or the tract description, because this is just the index to the microfilm that SWOGS uses for lookups. Some years ago, we started working on an area study centered in northeastern Oklahoma County. It has since expanded to include several townships in eastern Lincoln County, so if your family was in the Fallis, Wellston, or Captain Creek area we may well have information about them. Please write, I love to compare notes! Sharon McAllister
