This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/HaB.2ACI/329 Message Board Post: I am interested in information regarding any Keyes/Keys who settled , lived, and died in the Lincoln County area during the 1880's and early 1900's. We are hoping to locate information about a William S. Keyes who settled on land in Lincoln when it was Indian Territory. William married a Chickasaw Indian woman by the name of Mollie Underwood in 1885. They had one daughter, Ella Keyes. William divorced Mollie and was awarded their daughter in 1886 after Mollie abandoned them. He may have remarried (?). Any information regarding them or other Keyes/Keys in this area would be greatly appreciated. Sincerely, Sandra Keyes Kennedy
A call for Archivists for the Oklahoma Archives Hello everyone. The Oklahoma Archives is in need of people to fill the position of archivists for several counties, and for parts of the Indian Nations/Territories. http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/ok/okfiles.htm Why do the archives exist? The archives fill a roll in the preservation of genealogical information on the web in that all archives submissions are permanent, the information will not leave or otherwise be removed irregardless of who the archivist may be at the time. In some cases, the information in the archives will be a duplicate of what is on a county site, and in other cases, it will be information not on a county site but that can be linked to it. Why duplicate? First, the majority of information in the archives is in text format. This has stood the test of time in that it can be read no matter what system or browser is being used, and will be there no matter what advances take place in the future. Second, so far the text format has proven to be unaffected by viruss that love to work on html formats. If you are interested in becoming an archivist for the Oklahoma Archives please e-mail bchada@tanet.net Bob Chada or tchada@mmcable.com Tammie Chada. If you are interested in becoming an archivist for the Indian Nation/Territories division of the Oklahoma Archives, please contact greyoaks@brightok.net Linda Simpson Also, if there is a particular county or area that you would like to work in but see that it is already taken, we will place you on a future contact list. Thanks. Bob and Tammie Chada, Oklahoma State Archivist Linda Simpson, Asst. State Archivist for the Indian Nations/Territory Division of the Oklahoma Archives.

Sunflower Hello all, I am fairly new to the list and I think I've posted before. I recently had a problem with my pc and any messages that I may have received in reply to my own posting would have bee lost in the problems. I am trying to find some information on my gggrandfather, James Lewis Getman. I know that he is buried in Stroud, but I don't know what cemetery. He died Jan 26 1936 in Kendrick and was buried in Stroud. Can anyone tell me what cemeteries are in Stroud and are there any cemetery transcriptions for Stroud cemeteries? Also, can anyone tell me if obits for 1936 are available online anywhere? Failing that, is there anyone on the list that might be willing to do a lookup for the obit for James Lewis Getman (died Jan 26 1936) and his wife Emma Spencer Getman (died June 4 1920)? I would very much appreciate the help. regards, Colleen Lill Saskatoon, Sask CAN

This Morning I informed you of a concern we all should have regarding protecting ourselves against BADTRANS worm, computer virus.. I would like to ask you now if you have any additional comments regarding the subject, you send them to me personally. KathleenBurnett@earthlink.net. Please do not post the names of those you feel you have received infected postings from or their e-mail address. If you received an infected posting from a member of any of the lists I take care of, most likely I did too and I am taking care of it behind the scenes. I thank you for your help with this and appreciate your support. Kathleen Burnett List Mom
Dear List Members We are experiencing another outbreak of the BADTRANS worm, computer virus. I've received over 25 messages with it myself this weekend. The subject line will be varied but the infected attachments have a double extension, for example .doc.pif or .doc.scr You can go to http://www.antivirus.com/vinfo/ or http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/ to obtain more information. Please keep your anti virus software updated and DO NOT download unexpected attachments no matter who they are from or how tantalizing the subject line may be. "The Docs I Promised" just may be the virus. I apologize for breaking my own rule regarding Virus Warnings, but felt in this case it was important that you were aware. Kathleen Burnett List Mom

What Catholic Church in Chandler, OK would my great grandmother have her funeral services and is the Wright Cemetery a Catholic Cemetery? See the obituary listed below. Does the Catholic Church have any records regarding her baptism, etc. for that time period? I am hoping to find information that might lead me to a parish in Ireland. OBITUARY in The Chandler News, dated Thursday, April 13, 1905. Mrs. Mary Johnson died Saturday at the home of her son, Ben Johnson, seven miles southwest of town. She was buried Sunday in the Wright Cemetary, The funeral services being held at the Catholic Church. Mrs. Johnson was 75 years of age and was born in Ireland. Since the death of her husband six years ago, she has spent much of the time with her son, L. B. Johnson, in Chandler, and was well known and highly respected here. The family have the sympathy of a large circle of friends.
Evelyn, Thanks for the suggestion. I hadn't heard of that cemetery. My great grandmother had a Catholic service at her funeral in Chandler, OK in April 9, 1906. Her name was Mary O'Conner Johnson. She was born in Ireland in August 1828. She is buried in the Wright Cemetery in Chandler. Is there any Catholic records that would show information about her membership in the Catholic Church?
