1. [OKLINCOLN] From List Mom - Regarding OK-Cemeteries Volunteer and Inventory Website
2. Kathleen
3. Dear List Members I just received Tammie's Oklahoma Cemeteries Mailing List Homepage Update and would like to thank all those who have submitted their Inventories, photos and surveys to the Oklahoma Cemeteries Mailing List Homepage. It is because of each of you that this site is becoming the genealogical tool it is for so many researchers. I personally would also like to thank my cousin Tammie Chada for all of the time she has spent during the past 4 months developing this site. Without her devotion to this project we would not today have over 1170 pages of data to research. It is because of those like Tammie, who are so willing to give of their time and talents without asking anything in return, that many of us are able to locate the sacred grounds of our forefathers, and I for one thank her. If you have a moment, you might want to visit the Oklahoma Volunteer and Cemetery Inventory Website, I think you will be pleased. http://www.rootsweb.com/~okcemete/okcem.htm Kathleen Burnett List Mom

2. Tracy Liekhus
3. I was wondering if Lincoln County had any old school records available. I have researched in some Kansas counties and the court house has records that the teachers filled out each year listing their students and the ages of the students, as well as the grade in school. I am interested in obtaining school records for a school near Arlington, OK. I think it was called Deer Creek School. Has anyone ever heard of it or how to obtain school records? Thanks, Tracy PS. Also interested in getting any records of employees of the Sac and Fox Indian Reservation. This person worked on the reservation, but was not of Native American descent. He worked there in the late 1890's.

Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com

1. [OKLINCOLN] Recap - 1891 Lincoln County Land Run
2. Rochelle
3. I want to thank everyone who was so very kind by offering their experiences in obtaining section numbers for their ancestors who took part in the 1891 Land Run. Although the Lincoln County website lists the individuals by township it does not give the section #. I wrote Lincoln County's County Clerk and they wrote back saying they must have the section number before they could provide any information on the land. 1. I was advised that the University of Central Oklahoma, Edmond had records on the land run. My cousin went there looked at microfilms, books, etc. but found nothing. 2. Mr. Matthews advised the Lincoln County Historical Society had a book that listed the sections. "Oklahoma Land Run of '91 A Lincoln County Centennial" for $5.40. 3. Tracy said she had no luck with the courthouse and had called the Historical Society. 1-405-258-2425. I called the Society this morning and they are so very helpful. They will even look in the history books they have for your ancestors name. So you will save a great deal of effort to just contact by writing or calling the Lincoln County Historical Society. Again, thank everyone on the list for being so very helpful. Rochelle in the Sierra Foothills

2. Rochelle
3. I am posting this to the Lincoln County and Payne County list since many of those making the run were living in Payne County. I wrote the Lincoln Cty courthouse in Chander requesting any documents they had regarding the land my gggrandmother Mahala Bayne had from the land run. I had gotten my information from the Lincoln Cty website. North Cimarron Township, South Half of Township 17 North, Range 3 East. The answer from Chandler was that I must have the section number. I have no idea how to get this does anyone out there know how to obtain it? Any ideas will be appreciated. Thank you so much, Rochelle in the Sierra Foothills

1. [OKLINCOLN] 7:30 AM REPORT - FROM LIST MOM
2. Kathleen
3. Dear List Members: It looks like the flood will miss each of you, unless there is a second wave that I don't know about, but it hit me with full force from about 70 of my lists. I am not sure if and when it will be over but I have received and deleted hundreds and hundreds of bounced messages. I have also received more than I can count requests to be subscribed and unsubscribed. I will work my way through these. I have to check each one of them to make sure it as it should be. This will take time. Thank you. As usual, you were willing to do all that was necessary to help make this list run smoothly. Your many messages of support touched me and gave me strength to deal with this mess on my side. Kathleen Burnett List Mom

1. [OKLINCOLN] IMPORTANT - FROM LIST MOM - PLEASE READ
2. Kathleen
3. There has been a major problem with certain lists on Rootsweb since last Friday. I am not sure how this list is going to be effected by the crashed server at Rootsweb, you were not one directly effected. The server is up and running again and I have a favor to ask each of you. If you begin receiving a large amount of messages that have backed up in the system since last Friday. Please be understanding, USE YOUR DELETE KEY, yelling and screaming will not stop it. I am holding on for dear life. I will have messages coming to me from 171 mailing lists hitting me all at once along with bouncing messages and messages from those of you asking for help. Together we will get through this and look back on this day as the "Day of the Rootsweb Flood", and laugh. If you have asked to be unsubscribed, that request was most likely never received. Please understand that even if I unsubscribe you now, I cannot stop what you are going to receive. If the lists do not look the same, meaning the headers are gone. I will bo back and take care of that when this flood is over. Good luck and I look forward to getting back to normal when the sun is again shinning. Kathleen Burnett List Mom

2. Kathleen
3. Please forgive. My system went crazy and it sent out duplications of each message to several of the mailing lists. I am almost afraid to send out an apologize and have it just do the same thing again. :( I sat here and watched it happened and did not know what to do to stop it. Talk about feeling out of control. 1. [OKLINCOLN] From List Mom - Please Read
2. Kathleen
3. As you can see, the lists are getting busier now that the holidays are over. Just a few suggestions to make them smoother. If you see a posting come across the list asking to be unsubscribed or asking for help in any area that I deal with, know that I am taking care of it behind the scenes and you don't need to worry about it. If you post a query, try to put the surname in the subject line in CAPS and add dates if possible. Just keep in mind, we do have list members who delete the postings by only reading what is in the subject line, and never reading the body of the message. If you have a problem with a posting, meaning you think it should not have been posted. Please do not send your remarks to the entire list. Let me know your concerns and I will take care of it if I have not already. If you need me, to help you in anyway, you can reach me at kburnet@efortress.com I thank each of you for your continued support of this list and your willingness to help one another. I continually am in awe of the generosity of genealogical researchers. Kathleen Burnett List Mom

1. [OKLINCOLN] One or Two little Kellett Graves lost in Time
2. Kathleen
3. We have been trying for years to find the burial spots of two little baby boys, (twins). They were born in 1899 and died within a few days of their birth. It is said in the family that they were buried in Oklahoma, no county is known and it also said that a marked stone was place on their grave or graves before the family moved on with the last name of KELLETT on it. The only sister of these two little ones, a cousin of mine, died before she could locate these graves. I have taken up the torch. If you have seen such a grave I would love to hear from you. 3. Brenda, I grew up in Stroud and I recall going a Sac and Fox cemetery when I was kid. It was located approx 8-12 miles south of Stroud on Sac & Fox land but was very overgrown then (30 years ago). Perhaps you could contact the local Sac & Fox agency and see if they have records from the cemetery. Good luck! Barb McElroy Zaslow.
