    3. Wow! Thank you for all the responses. On all the maps I can find, Glendale does not seem to exist. We were always told that they built a dam and when it filled ( Wister Lake) it covered the town and nothing remained. We were also told that the Mountainview Cemetery was moved to below the dam. Was this area always LeFlore county, Choctaw Nation or just Choctaw Nation until Oklahoma became a state? Peggy, I like it when people go where is that? Not enough people know where things are anymore! History is one of the reasons I love Genealogy. Thank's again to all of you ! Gary PS Is the fishing any good in Wister Lake?

A lot of people fish at the dam, where the water spills out into Poteau River. Many times when the water isn't being let out of the lake, the water on the River side is quite shallow and people crawl out over the rocks and get the big fish caught in between the rocks. There was a Native American cemetery where the graves had to be moved, but not Mt. View. A portion of Glendale may have been taken by the lake as my great grandparents lived out there and part of their land is now underwater when the lake is high, but up on the hill where the church and cemetery are still stands as before. Counties weren't in existance before statehood. Choctaw Nation was a parcel of land given to the Choctaw people. You can find a map of this on the net somewhere, but I can't find it at the moment. Cherokee Nation was to the north, from the border of Choctaw Nation, upwards and through Tahlequah and I think to the KS border but don't quote me on that. If I find the site with those maps I'll send it to you, or maybe someone else has it? Anyway, it wa known as Choctaw Nation until statehood. If you would like to see Glendale on a map I found one at www.mapquest.com I typed in Wister Oklahoma and when the map came up I clicked on the 4th from the right to zoom smaller and then clicked on the SE corner to center it. I'm not sure if it will work or not but you might try clicking on this link: http://maps.infospace.com/_1_FPZU3I045KEDO2__info.whtpgs/kevmap?op=MoveMap&otmpl=%2Fkevmap%2Fmap-out.htm&width=478&height=359&scale=3&detail=2&lat=34.9454&long=-94.8160&lat_p=34.9276&long_p=-94.7517&QA=6+None+St&QC=Wister&QS=OK&QZ=74966&QO=US&XN=&width_o=360&height_o=270&detail_o=0&scale_o=1&matchpass=ZIP&CTR.x=311&CTR.y=154 I hope it works for you.
