Over 60 years ago my family lived on a Choctaw40 acres allotment in Williams. Leflore County, Okla.. My dad was a coal mine supt. for a mine called the Mary Anne . Mr. Ledbetter, Slim ( all I know ) worked for my Dad. There is little left of Williams and I am certain Slim abandoned the area for lack of work As I recall his age he would have been of draft age. You might start with the Selective Service Commission in Poteau, Okla. I recall Mr. Ledbetter to be a gentleman in overalls, very definitely Indian and for some reason I looked on him as a hero. And verry well he might have been. Juanita these are probably my Parkers! I am curious wether the pictures look like John and Luther are Father and son, or brothers? i have a anne "ethel" kirkley that married a man named parker. she was born feb. 7, 1901 and died dec. 4, 1975 and is buried in the howe cem., howe, okla... the kirkley family fit in with our dearmore family, which went from logan co., ark. to lefloor co okla.... would like to find the parker mans first name.... and their children... thanks

Juanita, Since I know nothing of John's family, his parents or siblings this would be of interest to me. Rufus K Parker could possibly be John's younger brother. It is worth looking into since I have no other information! The Dad is from Miss. that is good and Rufus Jr. was born in Ark. that follows my familys migration pattern! On my paternal grandfather's side of my family my great great grandparents, Nancy (COKER)and John B.E.C. "Jack" GLENN, had a son, George W. GLENN, who was born 1865-67 in MO (died in Leflore County, buried in Wister Cemetery) and married Lena CHRONISTER. George's siblings were Dan and Mollie BARRETT and John, Amanda Precilla, and Ollie GLENN, and Sebe, Samantha, and Muse NAPIER. Amanda was born in 1871 in Wister and married John ROGERS. Their children were Bill, Rosie [PARKER], Walter, Alfred, Jimmy, Baby, Essie [JONES], Alice [KING], Emma [NUNN] and Ethel [WHITE]. Rosie b. August 20, 1890 married Luther PARKER. Nine children were born to this union. My grandparents, Ardes S Webb and Rosie Webb, lived in and around Poteau back in the 20's to 40's. They at one time wrote a column for the Poteau paper. At some point they had taken in, I think only two, girls. They were Jewel and Elizabeth(Lizzie) Parker. I think that was the maiden names. Wondered if anyone has any info on these ladies. I met them both in Fort Smith,AR back in the 60's.
