Hi! I'm related to Albert Choate who was married to Lily Wright. I am also a member of the McAlvain family. I do not have any information on my Choate family but I am looking for any information. Do any of these names mean anything to either of you? Hi all, I'm looking for any information on my great grandmother, Georgie P. Wilcoxon. She was first married to George Washington Fields, Jr. with whom she had three children, all born in Muse; Irene Elizabeth, b. 1907, Ida Lee, b. 1909, and Monroe, b. 1911. George died in March of 1911 and by 1914 Georgie had remarried to Arthur W. Brown. She and Arthur had two boys; Clifton, b. 1915 and Drannon, b. 1918.The last record I have of her is the 1920 census, when she and Arthur were living in Muse with her four children (Monroe had died as an infant). I don't believe she survived the decade. By the time my grandmother, Ida Lee, entered high school in 1924 she was living with an aunt and uncle in Talahina. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Chuck

Barbara: Buckley Public Library at Poteau has a lot of microfilm of the Heavener and Poteau newspapers. They are in the genealogy room. Tom S PVGS
Tom, I was just in Poteau Sept 6-8. I looked at the Heavener & Poteau newspapers for the Obit for my grgrgrandfather. I found one small article about him in the Heavener Ledger on Dec. 8, 1927. It talked about him being seriously ill. But I never did find an obit, even though I looked at all the rest of the newspaper of that year. He died in Haw Creek at the home of his son Harry and is buried at Big Creek Cem. Miller/Evans and Dowden Funeral Homes do not have records of that years deaths. Do you know of any other sources that keep records of obits? I am at a stand still with my research concerning my grgrgrandparents. I don't have much information on them, except the birth & death dates. Here is what I have: Isaac John Allen Warford b. Sept. 9, 1850 AR d. Dec. 6, 1927 OK. bur. Big Creek Cem. Occupation-Farmer, Blacksmith, Circut Rider Preacher--Later ordained in 1900 at the Concord Missionary Bapt. Church. m. Mary Frances Crenshaw b. Oct. 25, 1854 AR. d. June 6, 1899 Ok bur. Oakdale Cem, Heavener, OK. marr. abt. 1869 AR. Moved from Scott Co., AR to LeFlore Co., OK. abt 1892. She was suppose to be 1/2 Cherokee, but no roll card. What information do the cemeteries keep on the people who are buried in them? Who would I contact to get this information? I live in TX and don't get to LeFlore, Co., but one time a year, for our Warford- Pinnell Reunion. I would appreciate any help anyone could give me. Thanks, Barbara G. [email protected]
Hi. I'm trying to connect with McLains myself. If you have any information about an Elizabeth McLain who passed away around 1890-189?, I really appreciate it. She is my great grandmother and I'm having a dickens of a time finding out anything about her. She married George Washington Essman and had 2 children. A son named Thomas who died when he was young and my grandmother. Elizabeth passed away when my grandmother was young. We believe her maiden name was Young. Her mother's name possibly Louise. I would like to talk to anyone that might have known the Herbert Z Ward family. I would like to get in touch with his daughter Betty, I understand that she moved to Texas, Maybe some one that knows her personally could let her know that I would like to talk to her about her book Choctaw Heritage. thanks Lisa
Was wondering if anyone might have some knowledge of some incidents that would have happened in LeFlore county between 1920-1960's. The first was a rodeo where a bull got out of the ring and took a rider through an extended tour of the town (I believe it may have been Poteau). Second would have been a cave in on a (coal?) mine, and 3rd a tornado that hit Howe in the early 1960. All I know about that is several of our cousins were killed in the tornado. I live out of state and would appreciate any information. Please reply to my e-mail address. Thanks. RobinGet more from the Web. FREE MSN Explorer download : http://explorer.msn.com
Ok.........I can't take it any more. I live in Oklahoma City and I love this state BUT THERE ARE A LOT OF PROBLEMS here and this respresents one of them. If you know the date of death on the obituaries you need, my sister and I will go check it out for you. Barb also. I need to take a break from things going on in my life and nothing is better for that than doing some research. If you don't know the date it will take a bit longer. I have found that when the date of death is known then I can usually find it pretty easy. I do not charge when I do these because I know that when I help someone out then sooner or later it will come back to me in the form of info I'm looking for. If copies are made I would accept a postcard for my daughter's collection rather than money for reimbursement. Send me the name and date and I am assuming it is the Heavener paper.
