    3. Donna, This may not help much, but if you click on: http://www.rootsweb.com/~okgenweb/okprojects/leflore/lef-10n-24e-cem.gif http://www.rootsweb.com/~okgenweb/okprojects/leflore/lef-9n-24e-cem.gif the little broken line boxes with crosses in them are cemeteries and if there are cemeteries adjacent to a church, it will show a broken line box with a cross attached to the top of a square. I have a LeFlore County General Highway Map with a Legend that gives the above identification of the symbols used -- I got the map a couple of years ago from the Department of Transportation. 2. LeFlore Co. Coordinator
    3. Hi folks, Nice to see all the sharing of information going on again. This is one of the most helpful list I admin. Thanks to all that give so much to help others. Great News!! We now have the Big Creek Cemetery canvass online thanks to Barb-TX. http://www.rootsweb.com/~okleflor/cemetery/bigcreek.htm I've also added a few obituaries to our obit index. I've added a number of other blank cemetery pages (the list is by no means complete) in hopes of acquiring information from other researchers to add to those pages. I have also created an easy submission form for you to use to send your family information to be included on the cemetery pages. In addition, I am adding maps to the cemetery pages and driving instructions when I can find that information. The submission form is located at http://www.rootsweb.com/~okleflor/forms/cemetery.htm and still being tweaked but it is useable. Get busy and send me some data. <G> Just a reminder to not voliate the PVGS copyright of their cemetery books. I am free to accept data you submit about your *own* families. 3. In both California and Oregon, a marker is a small metal plaque with a sharp metal piece to stick in the ground. On it, in either raised metal letters, or added letters, is the name of the person who died and date of death. This is a temporary marker placed there by the funeral home. This is usually in small cemeteries that are not maintained on a continuous basis. 3. Juanita, In my grandfather's book "The Proud Heritage of LeFlore County" he wrote about both Muse and Pine Valley. According to the book, Muse was first named Pugh Town becuase Tilllman Pugh, the father of Alvin (A.P. Pugh) built the first store there in 1897. Muse was two miles east of the store with the post office named Muse. From what is written in the book, Pugh Town was in a better location so the Muse post office and store was moved there and the name P.T. ceased to exist. The book lists A.P.'s wife and children. If you could use their names let me know. Pine Valley was a separate location and was a ghost town in the early 1960s. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Juanita Bradshaw" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, October 31, 2002 6:34 PM Subject: Re: [OKLEFLORE] Re: Muse > At 05:34 PM 10/31/2002 -0800, you wrote: > > > Can any one on the list tell me what the name of the funeral home that > > would have taken care of the arraignments for the people being buried > >in > > the Muse Cemetery, in 1920-1921 was (address, so I can write them) and > > can anyone tell me what the name of the newspaper, that would have > > contained the obituaries for that area, in 1920-1921 was? She said that they could have died any time between 1920-1926. I asked if she was sure they were buried in the Muse Cemetery, and she said that her mom's sister, who is in her 80s, said that yes, they were there, but that they just had "markers"--what is a marker?
