Seeking information about Annie L. (Elston) Wilson that was living in LeFlore County in the 1930 Census. She was widowed with three of her children still living with her: Viola, Rosie age 8, and Hazel age 5. I believe her husband died in the Fanshawe area around 1929. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Betsy
Tom, I don't know anything about The Royal Oak Academy, but the town of Royal Oak is the same as Poker Bend isn't it? If so as you well know, it would be East of Panama. My real reason for writing would be about the James Jones Biddie/Biddy history, I was told that was in the Poteau Library. Would you know anything about it? Would appreciate hearing anything you may have on the subject. James Jones was my GGGrandfather. Thanks. Bev There is a listing in the Leflore County Telephone book for Royal Oak Christian Academy, 47185 E. 820th St, 1-918-647-2449. The town name was not given but judging by the phone prefix it would be in Poteau, OK 74953. I think the academy is located just North of Poteau on the way to Cameron. Hope this helps Tom S PVGS

I am new to the list so hope some kind soul out there can help me. I am looking for the burial place of my grandfather John "Jack" Walter Moran. He was born in 1863/64 in Ireland and died 10/8/1935. I have the death certificate which indicates that he died in Fort Smith, Ark and buried in Poteau. I believe that he may have been buried in a small coal mining town near Poteau or it could have been in Poteau. I have done some research of county records but have not been able to locate where he was buried. Does anyone out there in Leflore County have any information on John Walter Moran? I believe that he was a coal miner who moved from Sebastian Co., AR to Leflore Co. He may have remarried someone there. Rose [email protected]
