The Ponca City Newspapers are on microfiche at the Ponca City Library. However, that far back (1929) obituaries were not in a special section of the paper. Therefore, it would be necessary to look through the entire year, each page of each newspaper. I can tell you from experience, it is extremely time consuming, and not always successful. I'm not sure if it would work, but I would suggest you contact the Ponca City Funeral Director(s) and try to determine through them an exact date of death. I'm listing below the directors from the 1998 Telephone Book. Also, if you could, I would appreciate knowing what reception and/or help you are given, and if they have any sort of master list from years ago, so I will know if this is a good idea, and perhaps which place was in business back then, or have the records from a previous older business.
