    3. Gail - I hope you saw my message to the Kay Co, Ok list yesterday explaining the reason for my delay in answering any look-ups since early May. Anyway, what I have is the book, Cemetery Inscriptions, Kay Co, Okla, published approx. 1978 by the Pioneer Genealogy Society of Ponca City, Okla. The book is not indexed - rather, names are listed alphabetically in each cemetery, so persons of the same name may not be related or buried in the same plot, etc. The persons doing the surveys did make some notations of relationships which help. NEWKIRK Cemetery, located 2 miles north of town on Highway 77, then cross railroad track to the right. Dorothy Wood Sep 9 1904 Dec 13 1912 ( F E B; m E B) I don't know what this means. Douglas Duane Wood Jul 17 1940 - one date only Doyle Dwight Wood Nov 7 1941 one date only Edmund B Wood Aug 14 1873 Feb 14 1955 Father Effie Burke Wood Sep 17 1877 Mar 10 1944 Mother Lillian Janette Wood May 30 1916 Feb 24 1946 Sister Sidney Ray Wood Oct 13 1953 Jan 29 1971 (father Wesley, mother Wilma) William Wood nd - Dec 18 1899 aged 45 yr 3 mo 3 da There are several Burke in this cemetery - a couple of right age to be parents of Effie (Louisa, 1849-1922 and William 1843-1922). Do you have her parents names? Found a Harold Albert Wood in Tonkawa IOOF Cem, (1918-1970) - seemed wrong age to be their son. Did not find any Warren or Ruth in any of the Kay County cemeteries. Hope this helps some on your research. 1. [OKKAY] Looking for Dragoo, Robertson, Harbison, Myers, Oshel
    2. E G
    3. I'm trying to track down some family who lived in Tonkawa OK until some time in the late 20s (after 1928 I know for sure.) The family names I know are as follows... Mary Ellen WINGER (Oshel) - my grandmother. born in 1927 in Tonkawa, but no birth records to be found anywhere. I've been told she was born on an indian reservation there, but the information I've found on the Tonkawa nation seems to indicate that around that time there were under 100 left, so I don't see how she could be a member. were there many white families living on reservations at that time? Her mother and father, Evelyn Belle Dragoo and Elmer James Oshel. They are both buried in La Junta, CO and died in 1938 (her) and 1950 (him). I have been told by several old family members that Evelyn Belle Dragoo was a native american; if so from my research she would have been possibly half. many of her descendants appear to potentially have some native ancestry, so this seems to have some truth to it. I don't have any birth dates on her, but we believe it's some time around the 1890s or very early 1900s. Elmer James Oshel might be related to the LARGE number of Oshels in southwest Kansas but I have yet to find a connection tying him to them. Evelyn Belle Dragoo's parents were: Ellen Eldora Robertson and Edward Dragoo. I know nothing about these people, and no research has yielded information for me yet. I'm hoping any of these names might ring a bell to anyone. Ellen Eldora Robertson was the daughter of Abraham Motsinger Robertson and Martha Ellen Stutes (Eiman). Ellen Eldora Robertson had a sister named Della Evelyn Robertson, who's descendants I have contacted. Della Evelyn Robertson married Ernest Lawrence Harbison, who's descendants live in the OK/KS/CO area (with the last name of Harbison still.) I am desperately looking for information on the DRAGOO family- these folks seem to have disappeared off the face of the earth, and seemingly in or around Kay Co, OK. I'm hoping some wonderful soul on this list might be able to help me. Any assistance is greatly appreciated. thanks! -Eric Gjerde
