Good Evening Listers. I was one unhappy camper Sunday. First, the library was open only from 2:00 until 5:00. I was hoping for at least 6 hours work. Next, the genealogy assistant is not there on Sunday and Monday, so another lady had to help me find the films, etc. Then, there was only one machine that took pictures that worked. So my plan to have my daughter help fell through. But worse, the machine would not reduce in size enough, so it was impossible to see an entire newspaper page without moving it up and down, sideways, etc. And of course, most of ones I was looking for were old enough that there was not an Obit Section as such. Rather, the obits were scattered throughout the papers, maybe front page, maybe in the news from a nearby community, etc. I worked on lister requests only, but I had very little luck. But will keep your requests on hand, and hope to get back during a week-day. One other thing - the obits from 1986 to now, have been cut out and put in books - very easy to find. But ones before that are a part of the original paper, which they have filmed, and there is no index. So when all I have is a year, or even a month and year when a party died, the possibilities of finding an obit are next to nil. Marriages were a little easier to check. The LDS and Pioneer Genealogical volunteers had filmed the index of each marriage book, and then the actual marriage licenses. I couldn't get the entire page copied at one time, so did it in two parts. Enough crying - maybe I'll have better luck next time. Bonnie Johnson @ Wichita, Ks
