Hi, All. My name is Harriette Jensen. I host the Kay County page for the USGenWeb and I am really happy that Edward has started this list. I live in Cupertino, CA. My interest in Kay County started with stories told to me by my grandmother, Clara Alice Hoisington Morris, as she showed me the hundreds of family pictures she had that dated from the late 1890s to about the 1940s. As I got more into genealogy, I found that most of my ancestors had lived in or visited Kay County regularly. So, when I discovered there was no USGenWeb site for Kay County, I volunteered. I want to invite those of you who have not already done so to visit the Kay County site (URL below) and post your surname and/or a query. Also, I'm always looking for more information on Kay County and its residents. If you already have a bit of information on your relatives, think about contributing an article to the Who's Who page (for the famous, not-so-famous, and infamous). If you have other info (cemetery listings, marriage records, etc.), I would be happy to post them or list your name as a lookup volunteer. The Kay County page is one of the busiest on the OKGenWeb, as many families stopped here before moving on to other parts of Oklahoma. I thought I'd introduce myself since I recently decided to establish this list. My name is Edward A. Black, Sr. and I established this list for those who desire to contact others who have like desires in locating family members or doing other genealogical rersearch in Kay County, Oklahoma. My interest in Kay Co., OK comes because my mother was born and raised in Blackwell, OK and underwent some of her nurses training in Ponca City, OK. Her parents moved to Blackwell, OK from Carroll Co, Tennessee by way of Obion Co, Tennessee and Greene Co, Arkansas. My mother's parents and her grandfather are buried in Blackwell, OK as well as a few aunts, uncles & cousins. I myself was born and raised in California where my parents moved to after World War II. I currently live in Lancaster, California and have been married 27-1/2 years, having raised a son, who himself is married and has 2 sons of his own. He lives in McAllen, TX. I have found that the lists I've taken part in have helped a lot in locating family members on either my own or that of my wife's family. My surnames that I am looking information up on are PARK and VOWEL. The VOWEL family still lives in Blackwell, OK as well as Tulsa, OK and elsewhere.
