    1. [OKKAY-L] PIONEER SCHOOL
    2. Robert Bissell
    3. My father and most of his brothers attended Pioneer School #48 , situated 7 miles east of Blackwell and 6 miles west of Kildare, from about 1894 to 1909. Is that school still there in original bldg.? Would any attendee records and class photos exist in district archives or a museum? Also,is the original bldg of the Oklahoma Business Coll. still in Blackwell? My dad attended there 1910- 1914. What is its address? I plan to make first time visit about midweek of the first week of Aug. Thanks very much for anyone's help. Robert Bissell in CA.

    1. [OKKAY-L] Bailey Surname
    2. Dear Fellow Genealogist: Please take a look at the information below and see if you recognize either Bailey family: LEO W. BAILEY b: approximately 1908-1912 in OK, m: Mabel Iva Morland Dec 18, 1929 in Newkirk, (KAY COUNTY) Oklahoma. Leo had a brother named GROVER and his father's name was WILLIAM. Leo and Mabel both lived in Tonkawa, OK (Kay County) at the time of marriage. Issue: ROBERT EUGENE BAILEY, October 24, 1929 in Billings (NOBLE COUNTY) Oklahoma. This area is remembered by some as the Three Sands Oil Field area. Robert was my father-in-law. He died in 1984 in Tulsa, OK. Sources of above dates and places come from Robert's birth certificate and the marriage license of Leo and Mabel. Robert's birth certificate lists Leo's place of birth as OK. It also lists Leo's age as 20 on his last birthday and his occupation as farmer living in the township of Glen Rose on Robert's date of birth. Also searching for info on a WILLIAM BAILEY b: Sept 24, 1883 in MO, d: Oct 11, 1958 in Blackwell, Kay CO, OK. Father: Joe O. Bailey; Mother: Sarah Myers. Last known residence: 1003 W Lincoln, Blackwell, OK. Spouse: Iva Pearl Bailey. Funeral records indicated WILLIAM was a retired farmer from the Billings, OK area. Proceeded in death by 4 children. Sons: Grover of Carson City, CO, James of KS and Archie of Tonkawa, Kay CO., OK. Sisters: Corda Pruiett and Maude Gilbert. Brothers: Joe of Denver, Walter and Otis (possibly a Quinton too) of Clinton, MO I am desperately trying to prove whether or not this William is the father of Leo listed above. If it is, I've made a major break-through in my research. Your help is greatly appreciated. Gayla Bailey

    1. [OKKAY-L] OKGRANT Rootsweb List...
    2. Edward A. Black, Sr. [& Ruth M. Black]
    3. I am letting people know that a new County List for Genealogical Discussion & research have been started in Oklahoma: OKGRANT [Grant County]. I expect that as a rural county it may not be thet active, but I believe in time it can be very helpful. Subcribing is by sending an e-mail message with the word "subscribe" as the only word in the body of a message with no subject to: (mail mode): "okxxxxxx-l-request@rootsweb.com" (digest mode): "okxxxxxx-d-request@rootsweb.com" Posting queries is by subscribers is to: "okxxxxxx-l@rootsweb.com" where "okxxxxxx" is the list name ["okgrant"] I would like to announce the startup of this new list so that people with an interest in genealogy in Grant County can be made aware of it. I hope that you can include a reference to it in the Grant County GenWeb site. Thanks again. 1. [OKKAY-L] URL TO CENSUS SITE
    2. Cousins, (From PA to OK) I figured my link would not get you there. Usually does this with numerous recipients. The URL of the (partial, but extensive) 1880 census site for all 50 states is: ftp://ftp.cac.psu.edu/genealogy/text/census/us1880/ Or if you want to go to the web site where I found this as well as other links to MORE census'(a few of them I have not been allowed access to), the URL to GENEANET is: http:/www.geneanet.org/index.html.en Again, these census' are "partial" listings and might not list the towns (at least they didn't for PA) but they do list what appears to be addresses (PA) for each family. Plus, they are legible. PA lists a half a million names. Please lemme know of any further problems. ENJOY! Cousin, Mike
