Hi, Marla and All. Marla, your postings always make me think that we're related because we have so many surnames and and given names in common.... they just don't combine in the same ways <g> However, I noticed on your page that you have Sears from KY, so I will write you privately. To All: I also host the Sumner County KS site (due north from Kay County) and I have just begun doing a surname index for the 1895 state census for Sumner County. Many of the people who eventually participate in the Land Runs were in Sumner before they claimed land in Kay County, so you might want to check that index. I have most of the cities done, with the exception of Wellington. I will have half of Wellington up by Friday and, as soon as the FHC opens again on Tuesday, I will post the rest of the city. The URL is in my signature line below. I will be happy to do a lookup if you find your surname listed. To the list', I just received two emails with attachments that appeared to be obits that I had asked for. both came from the same person, a Wilma or something like that. The thing I noticed was at the very end both had this "Look at the Attachment" or something to that effect. Anyway that is the statement that has been appearing on the bad Virus that was going around a couple of weeks ago so be on the lookout if you receive an attachment. Email the person back before you open the attachment to be sure they actually sent it. Jim Skaggs
Thanks, all of you that sent me the info that was in Ina May Skaggs' obit. I appreciate it very much. Jim Skaggs
Would someone that lives in the Blackwell, OK area please check the local newspaper to see if there is an obituary for Ina May Skaggs. Her death was reported in today's Oklahoman. If there is an obituarty please type the contents of the obit in an email to me. Thank you very much. Jim Skaggs, Norman

Hi, All. I was just updating the Kay County Surnames Page and found that I had many multiples of the same or almost the same surnames. If you haven't been to the surname page recently, you might want to check to see if there's been a new posting of your surnames. Also, while you're there, try sending an e-mail to your own link to make sure that it's current and that it works. And while I'm at it, I haven't posted my Kay County surnames in a dog's year. They are: COMBS HART HOISINGTON SPURGEON Harriette

Hi, All. Just in time for Memorial Day, we have finally finished linking the photos from the Kay County Honor Roll book to the index. We've been doing lookups on the Kay County page for over a year now from a copy of the "Kay County Honor Roll and Service Record" of WWI veterans that was generously given to me by Allene Niehaus. There were hundreds of entries, with pictures, personal and service information on most veterans. There are also some pictures of nurses, people who supported the war effort in some way, and pictures of mothers who lost their sons in the war. The veterans are mostly Kay County residents, but many were born elsewhere or joined from other Oklahoma counties and states (a lot from Kansas) to serve in the Kay County units. A few months ago, Vicki Ebert offered to scan in her copy so that we could have both the pictures and service records online. I'm pleased to announce that all the scanning is done and I have just completed linking the scans to the names in the index. You can enter from a link on the main Kay County page <http://www.rootsweb.com/~okkay/okkay.htm> or go directly to the Kay County Honor Roll <http://www.rootsweb.com/~okkay/hrmain.htm>. I want to thank Allene and Vicki for making it possible to make this book available online. Also, the rest of the Kay County pages have been updated, including a tremendous amount of information on the Gleanings Page from the many lookups that have been done by Bonnie Johnson. Thanks, Bonnie. Harriette _______________________________________________ Host, Kay Co. OK <http://www.rootsweb.com/~okkay/okkay.htm> Host, Sumner Co. This may be the book in which I began to do lookups when a nice lady undertook to scan it since I couldn't do it. I'm happy to see it done and out here. Will look forward to seeing my dad's link, too. Robert Bissell
