    1. [OKJOHNST] Choctaw-Web Update, Nov. 12, 2000
    2. The following additions have been made to the Choctaw-Web of Families, Census and Resources this week. 1885 Sugar Loaf County Census These are 764 names of your Choctaw ancestors who lived in the counties that are now parts of LeFlore and Latimer Counties. If you find a relative please send your thanks to Arline Johnson who transcribed these for us at SJohn10547@aol.com. Also thanks go to Sharron Ashton who provided the census. Nashoba, Gaines, San Bois and Tobucksy still to come. Go to: http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~impson/sugarloaf.htm Genealogy Lesson 5: Soundex Okay, it is not the most exciting topic in the world, but hey, we all have to learn it, right? check it out at: http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~impson/genealogy_5.htm New Links I have been adding new links to the site as I find them. This week I have added one that has many many useful NA and Choctaw sites. They were sent to me by our new Canadian friend Paul-Pierre Canal. go to: *Choctaw Tears, RionWillhelm's Native Page * Choctaw.com, a list of websites * A fantastic resource list for the Choctaw Nation * Choctaw Language, this is under construction but bookmark for later * Red Hawk 34's page *Kim's Teepee of recipe, prayer, stickball and more * The Choctaw First Nation Unofficial Support Site. These are all on the Trails page, along with many others, at: http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~trails.htm Use Internet Explorer with Census I have received more than a few messages from visitors this week that they could not view my census pages. Please read the note on the pages that says BEST VIEWED WITH INTERNET EXPLORER. I have made this note a little more emphatic. I guess that since Microsoft Frontpage 2000 is used to construct my web pages, Netscape just won't acknowledge them. You can download IE for free at its website. I haven't gotten much genealogy done and have been referring your questions to the Choctaw List or my website while I am transcribing and updating the site. Please be patient and know that helping people is my main priority. I believe doing it this way helps the greater number. I hope to get back to research soon. Also, I haved been added the names of those who are requesting help or lookups to this update/newsletter. Please let me know if you receive duplicates and which list you wish to be unsubscribed from.
