Thank you SO much -- this is the family mother remembers so well and the family from whom so many in that area, including her dad (Miles Ellison Smith), rented farms and farm land from. Too bad that it didn't list the land he owned. The way mother remembers it they had a lot of land and were good with it, and with the people who tenant farmed it. I'd sure like to hear from anyone who is kin to these people! Guess the Hobbses were in Old Mill Creek at the time and the Waggoners were in Scullin. Mother would have been born about this time and I've always gotten Murray and Johnston Counties mixed up -- our families have lived all over that area :-( confusing for someone who has only seen pictures of the area.
