    3. Dear Kay, Thank you and please kiss your father for me! This gives me yet another name to help in my search. We also found Elsie Mae Henegar on the list in Condon Cemetery. 2. Kay E. Armstrong
    3. Does anyone have a copy of the book "Early Days in Milburn"? I ran across it in a library and copied some pages from it. I even wrote to the Tishomingo Capitol Democrat (they published it) to buy a copy and they said it was out of print. I would love to buy a copy or pay for having the entire book copied. 3. Margret, My Friend, Thank you so much for your information on the Condon Grove Cemetery. I will find the website that you speak of and see if I can find more about the people that I seek. I believe the book that you speak of is the one that I am looking for. From conversations with others, I'm not sure that it is the Henegar's that I am seeking. However, since I am looking for people who are not truly in my family, but people whom my family is named after, I will check every lead that I can. Your time is a wonderful gift to me. Thank you. 1. [OKJOHNST] back again....
    2. Mark Taylor
    3. My Friends, Does anyone have knowledge of Byrd and Perry's Store in Tishomingo (Chickasaw Nation, IT) in late 1880s or 1890s? Would anyone know where I might find historical info like this? Also, how might I find out if a family owned land or where to find land deeds for Chickasaw Nation, IT? I'm so lost when it comes to land deeds or liens. Once again, I humbly thank you for your help and time. Dona P.S. Has anyone ever heard of or used a woman by the name of Vickie Luster to do research in the Tishomingo area. Have heard that she knows all about the area and it's history. Any ideas?

    3. Dear Dotty, Thank you so much for your generous offer! I am ever amazed at the generosity of people. I would appreciate it if you could get ahold of the book. I am waiting for a response from my other friend regarding it's exact title and possible info. All I know is it is written by Len Henegar. I will let you know soon as I know. She is on the list also, so you probably read her letters to me as well. It is an interesting journey that I am on, but I am determined! 3. Dear Sandra and list members, Thank you to everyone who responded to my posting. I am new to this list and you are making me feel very welcome and giving me hope that I might be able to track down my GGrandmother. Please forgive my ignorance, but you refer to the second history book. Is this the book entitled History of Johnston County, OK 1988? Was the Henigar that you speak of a doctor in Tulsa or in Bee? Why would the book you suggest be in Tulsa, so far away from Tishomingo? Is there a first book, the one written by Len Henegar (I assume about his family?) or is it the one above? Sorry to get myself so confused, could you please explain once more. There is a wonderful woman who is travelling that way soon but I'm not quite sure what to tell her to look for. Please help. Thank you, Dona >Dona, > >I do have a copy of the second history book. (I wrote you earlier today >about the Henegars in Tulsa.) 3. Dona, I do have a copy of the second history book. (I wrote you earlier today about the Henegars in Tulsa.) In the book History of Johnston County, Oklahoma 1988 (Curtis Media Corp.) there is no Henegar family in the alphabetical listing of family writeups. But there was a Henigar in the index as being in T24, which is a writeup on Taylor Town - Bee (Taylor Town became Bee, OK in 1889. It is now known as Butcher Pen and is east and slightly south of Tishomingo). The name Henigar is mentioned in a list of six doctors in the town. (no other mention of the name). 3. Dear Sandra, Thanks for the tip. I will definitely check into this lead. There are not really that many Henegars that I have found. And yes, I have checked as many surname lists and pages and whatever I can find to help in this search. I will check out the Tulsa area. Where is Okmulgee? I wonder if I can contact the Schusterman-Benson Library - do you know if they have an e-mail address? I'll check on this buy in case you know it right off... 3. Dona, My husband's from Tishomingo, but I can't help you there. What I'm remembering is about Tulsa. I served on the board of the Tulsa Genealogy Society a few years back with a man named Len Henegar. He wrote a book on the family! I believe he was from the Okmulgee area, but anyway he died a year or two afterward. I do know that he donated a copy of his book to the Tulsa library (It should be in the Schusterman-Benson Library now, as they have the genealogy collection.) Since he was really into genealogy, I wouldn't be surprised if some of his work is on the internet by now. Have you checked surname listings? And you might place a query on a Tulsa mail list, in case someone has a copy of his book. 2. Dona In regard to your questions on Condon Grove Cemetery. The Cemetery is located on the south side of the highway between Tishomingo and Milburn, a small town about 8-10 miles east of Tishomingo. I don't remember exactly where it was - but somewhere on the Johnston County webpage, there is a link to some cemetery records - included in those are some inscriptions from the Condon Grove Cemetery. Do a little surfing around the site - you might find what you need. I checked the 1979 issue of the Johnston County History (which I have) and did not see a listing for Henegers. There was a second book published a few years later, but I do not have a copy (or access) to it to check for you. Good luck in your search. Margret Stephens Stillwater, OK

    3. I am looking for any information on the Henegar family. I am trying to find my great grandmother. She was an Indian woman and went by the name Columbia Ann Henegar. John Abraham Fox "married" her in 1883/1884 in Tishomingo or Stonewall (then Chickasaw Nation, IT). She was 13 years old. John worked at Byrd and Perry's store in the late 1880s. I believe he bounced back and forth between the stores in Tishomingo and Stonewall. Columbia was a full blood Cherokee and was forced to give up her Indian name. No one in my family was ever told her real name. She chose a name from the customers who came into the store. The surname is the same as the merchant-grocer of that store on the 1900 Chickasaw Nation, IT Census. I believe that she chose that as her surname possibly for the whole family. Evidence indicates that they could not be blood related. I have found that she had at least two brothers, Jay and Wash (maybe Vash couldn't read the census takers handwriting very well) Henegar who were living with John and Columbia during the 1900 census. On her death certificate, her father's name was listed as Will Henegar. Her mother was simply listed at Paralee. I am searching for any information about Byrd and Perry's store, the Henegar's who ran the store, any one who would know my Great Grandparents, any pictures that anyone may have. Anything that may lead me to the true identity of Columbia Ann. I realize this is a big request, but if anyone out there knows the history of Tishomingo or Stonewall, you may recall stories.... William Henegar and his wife, Ella (from the Byrd and Perry's store) had at least three daughters. Elsie was born in 1908 and died in 1910. She is buried in Condon Grove Cemetary. Is that around this area? It may lead me in the direction of the Henegar's related to Will. They may have some answers for me. Also, found Ella Henegar lived to be 99 years old. Her last known location was in Malvern, Hot Springs, AR back in 1970. Columbia Ann was born March 1870 either in Fort Smith, AR (though I have found no census records in Ft. Smith at that time) or around Stonewall, OK which would have been Chickasaw Nation, IT. Census shows that her both of her parents were born in TN. Brothers that I know of were Jay b:3-1879 in AR or IT and Wash b: 6-1880 in IT. The Henegars (from whom I think she chose her name) were William b: Aug 1872 i OH parents from VA and England. His wife is Ella b: 12-1871 in AL parents born in Ireland and TN. in 1900, they had two daughters. Ruth b:7-1896 and Cleo b: 5-1900. Another child Elsie b:1908 d:1910. Apparently William's father, James Henegar and wife Elizabeth were there also with one daughter Pearl. They had three children total. If anyone has any information about Henegars in a 1910 census - not sure if it would be Chickasaw Nation or Johnston Cty at that time, maybe even Pontotoc Cty, I would love the info. Thank you for indulging me for so long.
