Gore and Margaret Ann Brown. They married in 1894 probably in Johnston county or possibly at Ardmore. They lived at Earl, Oklahoma at the time. Margaret's father Samuel Houston Brown died in 1894, we are also looking for info on him. We know he is buried at the Earl Cemetery. Her mother Vinney Lina Brown died in 1896 and is probably buried at Earl Cemetery in an unmarked grave. We have been unable to find any records from the early 1890s to help us find info on this family. Does anyone know what happened to the records from the old town of Earl, circa 1890-1900? Please contact me at janetstitch@aol.com.

1. [OKJOHNST] new features add to website
2. I have added two new features to my Choctaw-Impson Website. Jami Hamilton contributed an extensive genealogy of the descendants of chief Moshulatubbee. To find it, go to the main page and click on surnames. Also, I have upload an abstract index to O"Beirne"s "Leaders and Leading Men of the Choctaw Nation." However I have taken the liberty of renaming it, "Leading Men and WOMEN." Thanks to Nalora Burns for the abstract. This is a valuable research tool, although not 100 percent accurate in all cases. To view it, on the main page select Resources, then click on "Leaders." I also have reorganized the website to reflect a broader view of the Choctaw Nation, rather than just my ancestors, the Impsons, who are still included. I will refer to the site as Choctaw Families, Census and Resources (Choctaw families for short), although Rootsweb won't let me change the URL. Don't forget to look at Sharron Ashton's Choctaw Deaths, which is new too. Rusty Lang The 1929 Restricted Census are now up on my website at: http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~impson These join my other census, including 1885 ATOKA , BLUE , BOKTOLO, CEDAR, JACKS FORK, TOWSON , WADE, KIAMITIA and SKULLYVILLE counties. 3. ---------- Forwarded message ---------- Date: Sun, 24 Sep 2000 12:11:46 -0700 From: Rlang90547@aol.com Subject: {not a subscriber} 1929 RESTRICTED CHOCTAW CENSUS LIST ADMINISTRATORS: i AM NOT A MEMBER OF SOME OF THESE LISTS. PLEASE POST THIS VERY IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT Hi Fellow Researchers: I found something very exciting recently on the microfilm. It was a worksheet for a census of restricted Choctaws dated between 1929-1947. It was exciting because it fills in gaps left between the 1920s census and modern family records. It was 40 pages of microfilm with over 1,000 names. And, it helps ease the long wait of the 1930 census which won't be out until several more years. What are restricted census? I didn't know either, but I found out this: The U.S. Government regulated the financial affairs of "Restricted Indians. " If you had 50% or more Indian Blood you were a "Restricted Indian." From the book "INDIAN RECORDS" Choctaw Nation, Indian Territory Final Rolls, Volume I, II, III (Choctaw by Blood) by Arlene LeMaster. They records are from Compilation of Records from the Choctaw Nation, Indian Territory microfilm r929.37665 O41 1976. Transcribed by Rusty Lang with help from Maria. The census are now up on my website at: http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~impson These join my other census, including 1885 ATOKA , BLUE , BOKTOLO, CEDAR, JACKS FORK, TOWSON , WADE, KIAMITIA and SKULLYVILLE counties. Allied families include: ADAMS, Allen, ANDERSON, Billy, BOHANNON ,Buff, Burris, Byington, Carby, Carnes, Clark, Cobb, Cole, Cox, Cuzalina, DANENHOUR, Driver, Evans, Faudree, FLETCHER, Flinchum, FOLSOM, Frazier, Freeman, FREENY, GARDNER, Goode, Gulley, HAMPTON, Hardaway, Harris, Harrison, HEWITT, Hines, House, Hull, John, JONES, Lack, Latimer, Lee, Leader, Lester, Lewis, Loman, MACKEY, Mann, McCLURE, McPherson, Messner, Mitchell, Moore, MURPHEY, Napier, Nelson, Nohio, Perry, Phillips, ROBINSON, Shockley, Thomas, TOAZ, Wheeler, Wesley, Wheeler, Wilkerson and York. Click here: 1929 RESTRICTED Please let me know if you find errors or links that don't work.
