Maybe we can be some help to each other. we may even be related. please let me know if you have any information I my need. one of the lillys fathers was Sylmon wofford, and i am not sure but i believe the other ones a.k. wofford. there was suppose to be a Vada or Lavada wofford who would be my great grandmother. thanks for your time. brenda
Thank Sherry for sharing your story with me and your encouragement!!! Well, I think I might have find a lead on who were the funeral home that did the burial service of Henry Carter in 1939. It is Gus Pool and Son Funeral Home in Bryan County. The problem is nobody know where the records are at. At first Coffey Funeral Home took over the business of Pool's. Then Murray Funeral Home took it over. I have called Coffey Funeral Home and Murray Funeral Home and talk to the office managers. Coffey's record only go back to 1960 and Murray back to 1968. There were 3 funeral homes that was in business during in 1939. It is Dalton-Holmes, Moon's Funeral Home and Gus Pool & Son Funeral Home. The Moon's record only go back to June 1939 and Dalton-Holmes do not have my Carter's and they didn't do the service. So I knew with all my heart that it is Gus Pool's Funeral that did the burial service of my great grandfather. For they did his daughter's burial service ( I have her obituary, saying they did), so usually the tradition is when one family use the funeral home, it will pass down. I have called Bryan County Historical Library in Calera, Okla. and she said my only hope is find his obituary. She said they are getting too many calls from other people who is wanting the Gus Pool and Son Funeral Home's records. The Pool's family had tooked the records with them. Now they do not know where it went. I bet there is somebody here who is going thru same as I am, hunting the Gus Pool and Son Funeral Home's records. Well, good luck!!! Patsey, bless you for writing to me. Thank for the name of the newspaper, "Capitol Democrat in Tishomingo, Ok. " I will check this out if I ever get to go to Johnson County. For I would love to go there. And the funeral home, Clark Funeral Home, already call them. Said they do not have John Henry Carter. But Patsey, got a new information on my John Henry Carter from my elder aunt. I should have asked for Henry Carter instead of John Henry Carter. For he was known as Henry Carter. And he did died in his home in Kenefic, Okla. for she was 15 years old when she remember her grandpa died and never forget that. So Patsey, it was at Oklahoma that he died and it is at his home. As matter of fact, I have called all the funeral homes in Bryan County, Johnson County, Atoka County and no funeral records. I was so disappointed. But my aunt said if her memory served her correct, she think it could be Coffey Funeral Home, but I had called there and no record. Sorry for my long letter, Johnson's Lists. Just want to share with you my dilemna in searching for Henry Carter. Jackie, There have been two books published on the History of Johnston County. You may be able to purchase them from the Johnston County Historical Society or if not there try contacting the Chickasaw museum in Tishomingo. I think you can probably just send your inquiry to Tishomingo, Oklahoma 73460 and they will get it. The books are written by local people on their own families and are very interesting. Hope this will help you. My Grand father grup up around there. I have three generations buride at Troy. My father was born at Mill Creek. I lived in Lindsay and went to Murray State College from 62-64 and attended East Central in Ada 64-67. My grandparents lived accross the creek form the old mill pond on that circle drive. There was nothing between us and the water except rocks and grass. I probably didn't appreciate making memories as much as I do looking back on them. Norby
I don't recognize the Hollyways but in my search for the Fryers and Greens and Whites I will keep them in mind.. I am having as much trouble as you are.with my Fryers. The family lived there from 1910 to 1936. Agood 20 years. J.D Fryer owned a mill there for years and one son Richard ran the two movie Houses. J.D. was a carpenter and a farmer.. A lot of the Fryers live just across the creek. The Green that I mentioned was a Mac Green who was the superintendent of the water plant. Maybe with luck we will be able to help each other.... I do have a friend who was a Hollyway who was raised in Ada, Ok. which isn't too far from Tish. I will send the names that you you mentioned and see if she recognized any of them... Juanita Wood
Is there someone living in Johnston Co. who would remember some of the Holloways who lived there during the mid 1900s. I have a picture of them. In this group photo I recognize Sally ( Holloway) Williamson, Jewel ( Holloway) Brown and Aunt Alva. I knew them when some of them lived outside Tishomingo, and along the Blue River. I remember Elba and Raymond Holloway. I think Elba's wife was Perl Norton. Sure could use some help with this one. Norby Williamson.

There is no chance of acquiring a virus from the choctaw-web site; the virus --- which several people have said does not appear on their anti-virus scans, --could be a hoax or activated by replying to email or opening an attachment that says: "The Real Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" sent by SexNFun.
