Ok Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ok/Jefferson/10559 Surname: McManus, Whatley ------------------------- Hoping to find my Jefferson Co. ancestors I went to look for this cem. Hey, I found it. So to you who have looked but can't find I'll do my best: Go approx 1 1/2 mi S of Hwy81/70 intersection. You will pass the stockyards then a house on the West side of the road. After passing the house you will come to a bridge (or at least guard rails). As you are passing the guard rails look to the East, there will be a BRIEF clearing through the hills. Look for a large Hackberry tree on top of the hill (it's larger than the rest), this is where the cem is. Go to the first entrance (locked gait) on the east side of the road past the guard rails. After climbing the gait (the owner doesn't mind as long as you don't smoke on his land, or trash it), walk directly NE about a 1/4 mi.(you cannot see the tree from here due to the hill)oh, and watch out for what the cow's left behind!! OK, so after you climb the gait, you will top one hill then go down into a little "bottom" (kinda soggy this spring) then it is on top of the next hill. You should be able to see it when you get to the bottom. I didn't find the names I was looking for but here are the legible ones: Quinney, Bridges, Lawson, Purcell, McBee, Hunt, Compton, Bowles, Clowdus?, Page, Sugg, Blackerby, Bullard, Dickson, Armstrong. There were about 10-20 sites with rocks for headstone/footstone. Email me with any questions, I wrote down the first names but no dates.
