Gill To: dalton@imbris.com Sent: Wednesday, July 25, 2001 11:42 PM Subject: Cornish Orphan's Home Records Several years ago I visited Waurika in search of the Cornish Orphan's Home that used to be in Cornish, Okla. I was trying to find out if anyone knew who had the records of this home. I finally decided the post office would be a good place to inquire. The postmaster there told me a lady named Lillie Floyd had bought the house that used to be the Orphan's Home. He knew where Mrs. Floyd worked, so we went there and waited until she was off for lunch to talk to her. It seems like it was a clothing factory on the main street of Waurika. She had found some papers out in the loft of the barn which were records of the orphanage. She saved them, and through her I found out some information about my father who lived there for a few years. These records are invaluable to those of us searching for family who lived in this orphanage. I even learned that my father had a sister named, Sarah, and I hadn't known her name before. I am just wondering if anyone has preserved these records. I am hoping they were at least copied and put in the library there. Do you know anything about these records? I was never able to get back to Waurika to see Mrs. Floyd again, but she mailed me some information she found in those records. I am just hoping someone sees the value of these records and has them saved. Thank you. Please let me know if you know anything about these records. I am afraid they might be lost to future researchers trying to locate a family member. Ted Gill TEDWGILL@prodigy.net
