Posted on: Jefferson Co. Ok Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ok/Jefferson/480 Surname: Walker, Smith, Stone ------------------------- Family tradition has it that my g-grandfather Perry Asher Walker rowed his betrothed, Lulu Belle Smith Stone, across the river to marry her in Terral, OK September 15, 1895. Both of them resided in Montague Co., TX; Belle in Ringgold. She was the daughter of Lewis W. Smith and Armenia Elizabeth Tolson, and the widow of Sam Stone. Perry was the son of Asher Walker and Nancy Ann Johnson. Supposedly Belle's parents didn't approve of Perry, hence the elopement. I'd like some confirmation of the marriage being in OK.
There is a Hunt County, Texas in Northeast Texas and there is a Hunt, Texas down near Kerrville, Kerr Co., Texas (it was site of recent flooding in our Hill Country). Kerrville is near San Antonio. -- Peggy <'}}}}>< Winton Family Homepage http://sites.netscape.net/mawpeggywilson/homepage
