I am seeking information on the following families (below)  Allen, Billy, Buff, Burris, Byington, Carby, Carnes, Clark, Cobb, Cole, Cox, Cuzalina, Driver, Evans, Faudree, Flinchum, Fob, Frazier, Freeman, Goode, Gulley, Hardaway, Harris, Harrison, Hines, House, Hull, John, Lack, Latimer, Lee, Leader, Lester, Lewis, Loman, Mann, McPherson, Messner, Mitchell, Moore, Napier, Nelson, Nohio, Perry, Phillips, Shockley, Thomas, Wheeler, Wesley, Wheeler and Wilkerson.  These families (above) do not have their own pages, but are related by marriage to and included in the Impson family genealogy. Contact me if you have links to these families, have corrections or if you would like your (other) Choctaw family genealogy to appear on this website. 1. [OKJEFFER] VOTE FOR CHOCTAW-WEB
    2. Please read these instructions and vote for the Choctaw-Web as best website by Nov. 30. thanks, rusty lang, web administrator http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~impson Which Site Is the "Best Genealogy Site on the Web"? Who has the best genealogy-related World Wide Web site? Do you have an opinion? If so, you can make your opinion heard in the fourth annual "Best Genealogy Site on the World Wide Web" award. You have the opportunity to honor a genealogy Web site with a "Readers' Choice Award" to be issued by this newsletter. The readers of this newsletter will pick the site to be named "Best Genealogy Site on the World Wide Web." This will be the fourth year that the readers of this newsletter have conferred such an award. I won't mention who won the award previously, as I don't want to influence this year's nominations. However, I will mention them again at the end of this year's elections. What guidelines are used to define the "Best Genealogy Site on the World Wide Web"? That is strictly up to you. You can nominate a site because it is interesting, because it has nice graphics, because it has excellent maps, or because it is full of valuable genealogy reference materials. I would suggest that you nominate a site because it is the one genealogy Web site you go back to and visit time and time again. However, even that guideline is optional. The choice is yours to make. When you cast your vote, you might write a couple of sentences about why you think this site is best, although that description is not absolutely required. I have set up an "electronic voting machine" that you can use to cast a vote for this "Best of the Web" award. I have great confidence in this voting machine; Florida residents will not have to conduct a recount! You can vote at any time from now until midnight Eastern Time on 30 November 2000. The voting machine will then tabulate the results. I will announce the winner in the December 2 newsletter. The winning World Wide Web site will then be allowed to mention the award on its Web site. That Web site also will be entitled to all the fame and notoriety that is included with this "Online Genealogy Newsletter's Readers' Choice Award." Enough said! To cast your vote, you must follow these instructions EXACTLY. A computer is tabulating the results, not a human being. Computers are not very good at interpreting what you meant to say; you have to be precise when talking to a computer. You must enter your vote in exactly the proper format. To cast a vote for "Best Genealogy Site on the World Wide Web," send an e-mail to: bestsite@rootscomputing.com The subject of the message must contain the full Web site address and nothing else. For instance, the message subject might be: http://www.rootscomputing.com p The message subject (some e-mail programs will say "Message Title" instead of "subject") MUST start with: (IF CHOCTAW-WEB IS YOUR FAVORITE, IT WOULD BE:) http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~impson Please list the exact address in the message subject, but do not add any other words. Do not say, "My vote is . . ." or anything like that in the subject; simply list the actual URL beginning with the letters http://. None of the following three examples will work: www.xyz.com My vote is for www.xyz.com My favorite Web site is xyz.com None of the three previous examples begin with http://, and therefore the computer program that tabulates the vote will ignore them. If you send your vote properly, you will receive a reply acknowledging the receipt of your nomination. You are encouraged to tell why you think your favorite site deserves such an award. You can do so by writing comments in the body of the e-mail. The automatic vote tally software will ignore the body text. However, once the votes are tallied, a human will read all the messages that nominated the winning site and will look for any comments about that site. Some of those comments may be published in the December 2 newsletter. By writing text in the message body, you are giving permission to reprint your name and comments in this newsletter. If you do not want your words or name published, please do not write anything in the message body. IAll votes must be received on or before 30 November 2000. You must send your vote to: bestsite@rootscomputing.com The message subject line must contain the Web site's complete address (URL) and must start with: http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~impson OK, which site is the "Best Genealogy Site on the Web"? Your vote counts.

They were sent to me by our new Canadian friend Paul-Pierre Canal. go to: *Choctaw Tears, RionWillhelm's Native Page * Choctaw.com, a list of websites * A fantastic resource list for the Choctaw Nation * Choctaw Language, this is under construction but bookmark for later * Red Hawk 34's page *Kim's Teepee of recipe, prayer, stickball and more * The Choctaw First Nation Unofficial Support Site. These are all on the Trails page, along with many others, at: http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~trails.htm Use Internet Explorer with Census I have received more than a few messages from visitors this week that they could not view my census pages. Please read the note on the pages that says BEST VIEWED WITH INTERNET EXPLORER. I have made this note a little more emphatic. I guess that since Microsoft Frontpage 2000 is used to construct my web pages, Netscape just won't acknowledge them. You can download IE for free at its website. I haven't gotten much genealogy done and have been referring your questions to the Choctaw List or my website while I am transcribing and updating the site. Please be patient and know that helping people is my main priority. I believe doing it this way helps the greater number. I hope to get back to research soon. Also, I haved been added the names of those who are requesting help or lookups to this update/newsletter. Please let me know if you receive duplicates and which list you wish to be unsubscribed from. 1. [OKJEFFER] CHOCTAW-WEB update, Nov. 5, 2000
    2. These additions have been made this week to the Choctaw-Web of Families, Census, Resources (formerly Choctaw-Impson): 1885 EAGLE COUNTY CENSUS: http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~impson/eagle.htm It's not pretty but it's up. The county contains 744 names and joins 1885 ATOKA , BLUE , BOKTOLO, CEDAR, JACKS FORK, TOWSON , WADE, KIAMITIA and SKULLYVILLE counties, and 1929 Restricted Census. These were very difficult to read, so please write me if you find name spellings that are obviously wrong. Thanks to Sharron Ashton for providing the census. Look for Gaines, Nashoba, San Bois and Sugar Loaf counties to come. ************ GENEALOGY LESSONS: http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~impson/new_page_17.htm Find out how to read Dawes Commission Census Cards and send for Enrollment packets. 3. Posted on: Jefferson Co. Ok Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ok/Jefferson/482 Surname: Gardner, Youngblood ------------------------- I am trying to figure out my great grandparents. I've been told that in the early 1900's they lived on a reservation, some of the children, were schooled there. Then for no reason they would travel back to Texas. They did this for many years, back and forth. My family has talked alot about Waurika, Jefferson County. My grandparents name was ROBERT LEE GARDNER and SUE BOGARD GARDNER. They were born about 1868, he is Kentucky, and she was born in Lafayette County, Ms. Also looking for marriage record of Ruthie Pearl Gardner and Walter Elvis Youngblood, they were married in about 1903, either in Oklahoma or Texas, but do not know which. Also does anyone know of any school records in the early 1896-1907 on reservation land? Thanks for all your help. Sue

    1. [OKJEFFER] Registering for draft
    2. Keith Beene
    3. This question is for all you veterans out there........My grandfather, Samuel V. BEENE, lived in Marlow, Stephens Co., Oklahoma during the 1940s. However, he registered for selective service into the Armed Forces before Board 2 in Chicasha, Grady Co. Does anyone know why he would go to Chicasha to register instead of staying in his own county? Is it because Chicasha is bigger? I'd like to start a discussion with someone who knows about the in-and-outs of draft/selective service during this time in our history. Keith Beene Murfreesboro, TN
