Dale LEDFORD, minister of the Newkirk Calvary Temple, officiating. She was born May 5, 1919 in Nowata County, the daughter of Leonard Marion and Lula Mae (GREEN) PARRETT, and died Jan. 28 in the Arkansas City Memorial Hospital at the age of 81. She grew up in the rural Nowata area and received her education in a rural school. After she left school, she helped her parents on their farm. On Feb. 25, 1935, she and Thomas Edward SORRELL were married at Nowata. They made their home in and around Alluwe. In 1955 they moved to Sedan, Ks., moving a year later to Newkirk where she has since lived. Mrs. SORRELL was a member of the Calvary Temple and the Pentecostal Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed her family and her house plants. She was preceded in death by her husband on March 14, 1990; one daughter, Shirley; her parents; one brother William; and one sister, Rebecca. Survivors include her sons, Andy SORRELL of Dewey, James SORRELL of Wetumka, Thomas SORRELL, Jess SORRELL, and Dewey SORRELL, all of Newkirk; a daughter, Bertha TULL of Newkirk; a brother, Doyal "Pete" PARRETT of Nowata; a sister Opal SUTHERLIN of Nowata; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Family members served as casket bearers. A memorial fund has been established with Calvary Temple, Contributions may be made through Eastman National Bank, Box 468, Newkirk, Ok. 74647-0468. Services were under the direction of Miller-Stahl Funeral Service of Newkirk.
