BROWN Funeral services for Hiram J. BROWN were held Jan. 30 at the Hudson-Phillips Chapel with Larry LEWIS officiating, assisted by Bro. Robert EBERLE. He was born Nov. 26, 1906 in Vernon, Tx. to William and Cordelia BROWN and died Jan. 27 in the Holdenville General Hospital at the age of 94. He came with his family to Hughes county as a young boy. He grew up in the Wetumka and Fairview areas and attended Fairview school. Mr. BROWN married Zelpha PRICE in November of 1933 in Holdenville. They lived on the farm near Holdenville until the 1940's when they moved to California. Mr. BROWN was a welder and became a leaderman in th shipyards during World War II. After the war they returned to the Holdenville area where they have livedsince that time. He was retired from Rousch Machine Shop in Wewoka. He was a member of the 4th and Broadway Church of Christ. Mr. BROWN was preceded in death by three brothers, Drew BROWN, Beecher BROWN and Mitchell BROWN; and four sisters, Stella TAYLOR, Mattie ABNEY, May PETTY and Sota HARWELL. Survivors include his wife, Zelpha BROW of the home in Holdenville; one sister, Oleta OZMENT of Fox; a sister-in-law, Marie BROWN of Holdenville; a brother-in-law, Ray HARWELL, also of Hooldenville; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were nephews, Billy BROWN, Dale PRICE, David Lee TAYLOR, Phillip MARSHALL, Tom BROWN, and Bob BROWN. Honorary pallbeareres were Harmon THETFORD, Bill COLLINS, Les STEELE, Sam PAYLOR , Gene HOLLIMAN, Bill WOOTEN and Loyal CONN. Interment was in the Holdenville Cemetery under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home.
